Job Summary

Surry Nuclear Power Station is seeking candidates for a Supervisor-Nuclear Engineering.  This position will report to the Manager – Site Engineering. The assigned area of responsibility will be associated with supporting Maintenance and Operations, as well as Engineering ownership for various programs. The selected candidate will provide leadership and direction to the Engineering Maintenance Support team responsible for a number of site engineering programs and providing support to the site engineering systems and site maintenance teams at Surry Power Station.

The candidate must be able to:

Work in a collaborative fashion with all station groups (Maintenance, Nuclear Site Services and I&C) to facilitate timely and reliable implementation schedules.

Interface with employees in other company departments and outside engineering firms.

Coach, mentor and supervise the development of individual engineers. 

Perform duties as Engineering point of conduct as Engineering Manager on Call (EMOC) and as Outage Control Center Engineering Representative when assigned during outage periods.

The successful candidate will be required to be a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

In addition to leadership of the selected work group, the successful candidate will perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:

7+ years of engineering experience of which 2-4 shall be nuclear plant experience.

Strong leadership and organizational skills are a must.

Must have very strong oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of power plant operations is required with an ability to organize and manage human resources.

Certification as a nuclear Shift Technical Advisor or Senior Reactor Operator is desired but not required.

Some experience with the work management and scheduling processes is desired but not required.

Must meet engineering experience as required by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for the qualification of nuclear powerplant personnel.

Nuclear station engineering experience is a significant advantage.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s):  Engineering, Engineering Technology

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

ANSI 3.1-2014, Section 4.4.8 (must be documented on form HR-AA-101)

Education:  Baccalaureate degree in engineering or related science.

Minimum Experience for the position:

Related experience which shall include 4 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr.  On site experience to include .25 yr.

Special requirements:

The reactor engineering supervisor or group shall have

1) 2 years of the required related experience must be in reactor engineering and an additional 1 year of nuclear power plant experience.

2) During the nuclear power plant experience, the individual shall have participated in the reactor engineering section activities at a nuclear power plant during the following periods:

(a) Initial fueling or refueling,

(b) Initial startup test program or post refueling outage startup test program,

(c) Power increase from 10% to 100%, including stabilization of xenon,

(d) Rod sequence exchange (BWR only),

(e) 2 months of operation above 20% power.

Note:  Minimum 7+ years of experience exceeds the ANSI requirement for related experience and applicants must meet the Dominion Energy requirements.
