We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary
Dominion Energy Virginia's Electric Transmission (ET} Substation Engineering – Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) group is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Technical Consultant to support development, quality assurance, and standards interface. This role will serve as the technical consultant for management and must have the ability to clearly communicate issues and solutions. The primary responsibility for this role includes providing expert technical support, direction and advice for the development and implementation of the EPC program. Perform evaluations, analysis, and design support for construction improvements within the EPC group. The role requires individual who can apply previous field and design experience to effectively interface with field and project organizations for improvements within the group.
- Assist project management teams and EPC teams for the development of the scope of work and design requirements for substation engineering projects.
- Assist EPC partners by answering questions related to design packages and providing guidance on design and/or construction plans.
- Independently develop best practice procedures for EPC projects using applicable construction standards.
- Coordinates with the turnover of the new protection facilities to the Operations and Maintenance Team(s) to enable a seamless transition into commercial operations.
- Provide expert technical support to design team for development and application of process improvements
- Provide development schedules and documentation to track and ensure teams are meeting milestones to support the organization
- Identify deviations of standard practices and develop/recommend improvements to existing processes to increase productivity
- Evaluate and recommend applications and methods considering all stakeholders input to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency
- Participate in various company teams and industry organizations to enhance ET's system protection performance
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
- 7+ years of relevant work experience in a technical role with a preferred Bachelor Degree (or 9+ years of relevant work experience in a technical role with an Associate Degree)
- Experience as a relay technician installing, commissioning, and maintaining protection systems.
- Experience with developing system protection design drawing packages.
- Experience in training development and implementation.
- Proficient with MicroStation or equivalent CAD software.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.
- Equally effective with working independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
- Understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including an understanding of three-phase power systems.
- Understanding the principles of transmission and distribution relay protection.
- Understanding of data communications.

Education Requirements
Preferred: Bachelor Degree (7+ years of relevant work experience in a technical role) or Associate Degree (9+ years of relevant work experience in a technical role)
In order to be a titled Engineering Technical Specialist, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- 4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
- 4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or
- 4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree
