We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

This highly self-motivated position is responsible for adding and retaining natural gas load within the company’s residential and commercial customer base by selling natural gas appliances, products, and services.  

 

Job duties include:
•    Initiates contact with potential customers to promote the use of natural gas as the preferred energy source
•    Recommends expansion of natural gas lines in existing subdivisions
•    Provides quality customer service and public relations
•    Meets corporate, established sales targets
•    Serves as a central point of contact between the Company and our customers
•    Contacts individuals who have not previously expressed interest in the offered products or services and visiting customers in their homes for sales calls

 

The Gas Appliance Sales Representative position offers a base salary (minimum of $15/hr.) with the opportunity for increased earnings through robust commission and bonus incentives.  

 

The IRS standard mileage rate is paid for all business miles driven.

 

This position will report to the Chapel Hill Operations Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

•    Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a competent and professional manner
•    Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
•    Ability to adapt to a changing business environment
•    Ability to accurately complete a variety of required paperwork in a timely manner, including sales contracts
•    Experience in sales and marketing practices and procedures
•    Ability to perform job duties outside of normal working hours
•    Ability to physically access attics, basements, and crawl spaces for job quotes
•    Desire to perform customer facing sales of natural gas equipment
•    Personal transportation to perform job duties
•    Ability to travel across the assigned company territory


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience

•    2 or more years of experience in natural gas, HVAC or sales
•    Knowledge of installation codes and standards, equipment applications and sizing requirements
•    Working knowledge of Customer Information Systems and SalesForce software

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in related discipline (such as: Business, Sales, Marketing), OR
Associate's Degree in related discipline (such as: Business, Sales, Marketing) and 2+ years of related experience, OR
High School diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of related experience


Preferred:  Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university in related field (such as:  Business, Sales, Marketing).

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record

Other Working Conditions

Position requires travel to customers' homes and to other offices within the Company's service territory.


Work is typically performed in an office environment, as well as, inside and outside customers' premises.


Candidate is expected to live within a reasonable distance of the assigned territory.
