Job Summary

  • The Electric Transmission organization is seeking a strategic technology leader who will be responsible for advancing digital strategy, engineering analytics, operational intelligence & support, and technology-enabled business capabilities serving Electric Transmission.
  • This role sits at the intersection of electric transmission, software & data systems, product strategy, organizational transformation, and emerging technology.
  • The successful candidate will lead a portfolio of digital products, strategic technology initiatives, and external partnerships that improve operational effectiveness, decision-making, and long-term grid capability.
  • This role requires a combination of technical credibility, strategic thinking, organizational influence, communication skill, and execution discipline. 
  • The successful candidate must be comfortable with operating across executive strategy discussions, engineering environments, software delivery ecosystems, vendor partnerships, and complex organizational interfaces.

 

The successful candidate will oversee four distinct teams (each led by Supervisors) including: 

  • Engineering Analytics & Modeling
  • Operations Analytics
  • Fault Analysis
  • Operations Technology Solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategy, prioritization, and execution for a portfolio of digital products and technology initiatives supporting Electric Transmission operations and business functions.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships across transmission engineering, operations, planning, asset management, IT, cybersecurity, data organizations, and executive leadership.
  • Translate operational and engineering challenges into scalable digital solutions, data products, workflows, and technology capabilities.
  • Provide leadership for internal teams and external delivery partners involved in software development, analytics, automation, data engineering, and product delivery.
  • Establish and evolve operating models for digital product management, governance, funding alignment, and portfolio coordination.
  • Guide cross-functional initiatives involving cloud platforms, enterprise data systems, integrations, cyber security requirements, DevOps practices, and operational technology environments.
  • Serve as a strategic interface between Electric Transmission and corporate technology organizations to ensure alignment while preserving business agility and domain-specific effectiveness.
  • Lead development of business cases, strategic roadmaps, funding requests, executive communications, and portfolio reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to apply emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, sensor data systems, automation and digital workflow tools to electric transmission business problems.
  • Support development and management of strategic vendor and technology partnerships, including long-term collaborative relationships and outcome-oriented delivery methods.
  • Drive organizational adoption and operationalization of digital capabilities through stakeholder engagement, communication, and change leadership.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, strategic thinking, collaboration, innovation, and operational effectiveness.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

  • 8+ years of related experience.
    • (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications)
  • 3+ years of experience in Electric Transmission.
  • Full knowledge of managerial and supervisory concepts.
  • Working knowledge of transmission operations, grid technologies, operational data systems, and utility business processes.
  • Experience leading cross-functional and inter-departmental initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience building or scaling technology enabled capabilities within complex organizational environments.
  • Thorough knowledge of transmission and substation equipment, design concepts and industry standards.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor

Other Discipline(s): Engineering

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above. 

 

  • 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelors degree
  • 10+ years of related experience with an Associates degree
  • 12+ years of related experience with a High School Diploma

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

  • PE license preferred and may be substituted for BS Engineering degree.
