Job Summary

Dominion Energy Generation is seeking qualified applicants for an Electrician Trainee position at our Yorktown Power Station in Yorktown, Virginia.  You will be placed in a 42 month standardized skills development program.  The starting pay rate is $20.40 per hour and increases through each step in the 42-month development program, to an upper rate of $41.12 per hour. You must be available to attend training classes in Chester, VA as scheduled.  The possibility of advance placement in the development program will be evaluated based on prior experience.  This position will not pay relocation costs.

As an Electrician Trainee you will be required to perform maintenance on power station electrical equipment including but not limited to: Low and High voltage Switchgear (including but not limited to GE Magna-blast, Westinghouse DH and DB series, ITE K4000 and K1600 series), AC and DC Motors, Variable Frequency drives, Programmable Logic Controllers, Relay logic (turbine generator, boiler, motor and transformer protection schemes), Ungrounded DC voltage systems, Electrostatic precipitators.

Perform electrical maintenance tasks including but not limited to: troubleshooting, locating grounds, rigging of equipment, motor installation, alignment and coupling, breaker maintenance and repair, turbine generator and exciter online brush PMs.

Strongly prefer candidates with journeyman craftsman experience in the following environments: Power plant/power generation, paper mill, shipyard, military, manufacturing, steel mill, or other heavy industry.

Yorktown Power Station has three uits. Units 1 and 2 are coal fired uits currrently slated for closure in the 2nd Quarter of 2019.  Unit 3, a large oil fired unit, is currenlty expected to remain in service.


Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The following is a list of preferred knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences:

Minimum of three years experience in maintaining major industrial equipment such as breakers, motors, switchgear, generators, voltage regulators, motor control centers, etc.

Experience working with hand tools, industrial tools, rigging, scaffolding, forklifts, oscilloscope, megger, laptop utilization for PLC troubleshooting and programming, etc.

Word processing skills

Previous journeyman electrician experience.

Education Requirements
