Job Summary
This position will operate and transport all specialized equipment and materials associated with Electric Transmission Lines. Position is a critical component of transmission line crew’s day to day operations and all emergency restoration efforts. The successful individual must be a self-starter and work with minimal direction. Must be able to able to walk and work in uneven terrain and other adverse right of way conditions. Individuals must be able to provide verifiable evidence of safe, over the road tractor trailer driving experience. Must be available for overtime including extended workdays, weekends, holidays and out of town assignments.
This is a Local 50 union represented position with a starting pay rate of $34.53 per hour.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
3-5 years directly related experience driving large equipment and related operational skills.
- Individual required to have an unrestricted Class A CDL to include tractor/trailer and manual transmission endorsements. HAZMAT endorsement not required.
- Must have the ability to:
- Operate a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce (cannot be restricted to intrastate).
- Drive and/or operate vehicles and equipment for long distances and durations.
- Be physically able to deploy chains and/or straps for cargo securement and climb on the top of specialized equipment to inspect vehicles/equipment.
- To lift 50 lbs.
- Climb on deck of trailer without use of a ladder.
- Manage the responsibility associated with oversized loads traveling under permit and accompanied by escorts.
- Assist with procurement of any required permits.
