Job Summary

This role directs, negotiates, and recommends strategic initiatives for the development, implementation, and maintenance of all aspects of on-site and/or off-site radiological Emergency Preparedness (EP) plans and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory, government, and company requirements and guidelines. The role also provides leadership, direction, and performance management for a small team responsible for EP program execution and support. Assists in the development of the department’s budget and monitors expenditures to ensure conformance. Maintains, grows, and leverages strategic relationships with key station (on-site) management, local and state EP program (off-site) management, and federal agency EP representatives to advance joint EP goals. Responsible for meeting or exceeding established EP company strategic goals and regulatory requirements. Exercises freedom to organize, plan, control, and evaluate on-site and off-site goals and objectives, generally within a one-year planning horizon. Maintains industry contacts through communications, benchmarking, and other means to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for Dominion EP.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

-7+ years of directly related experience (with preferred Bachelor's degree);

-In lieu of preferred related Bachelor's degree, may substitute related Associate's degree and 9+ years of directly related experience or High School diploma/GED and 11+ years of directly related experience that demonstrates knowledge of relevant fundamental theories, principles and concepts;

-Ability to act with latitude in fulfilling position accountability while keeping senior management informed on serious or high-risk matters;
-Ability to work with little or no direct supervision;
-Ability to create win-wins between station an various off-site EP states/agencies;
-Excellent communication skills;
-Excellent planning skills, and interpersonal skills;
-Good plant background and knowledge;
-Comprehensive knowledge of governing regulations for emergency response plans and programs; 
-Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals both internal and external to the company;
-Critical, analytical and abstract thinking skills;
-Negotiation skills;
-Demonstrated leadership capabilities for managing diverse groups

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines:  Business, Engineering, Physical Science, Health Physics, Safety

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above
