Job Summary

This role analyzes, designs, develops, implements and evaluates nuclear security training programs, in the classroom, range and on-the-job, using the systematic approach to training and compliance with NRC requirements. Monitors training records of security personnel to ensure timely completion of NRC requirements. Conduct assessments and periodic evaluations of security training program effectiveness. Conduct range activities and OJT/TPE instruction. Responsible for the coordination of shift personnel to ensure compliance with procedures and orders and coordination of security training to ensure compliance with NRC requirements. Conducts firearms and tactical training for all armed and unarmed security personnel. Trains and qualifies all new Security Officers. Conducts training to certify and re-certify security personnel on critical tasks and in contingency plans. Responsible for the orientation, training, and retraining of Security Shift Supervisors and all security personnel. Acts as controller during Security Contingency drills and performs critiques for such. Observes security shift personnel to ensure compliance with procedures, orders, and NRC requirements. Coordinates security functions and activities to ensure that security plans and procedures are implemented to investigate alarms and unauthorized activity protecting the site from acts of attempted radiological sabotage. May serve as team leader during a security response or station security emergency response drills and carry out all aspects of the site Response Strategy.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

2+ years of Nuclear Security experience or equivalent experience in directly related field;

2+ years of Nuclear Secuirty Supervisory or Training experience;

Knowledge of instructional theory and adult learning theories to develop training programs in accordance with the SAT process;

Demonstrates leadership and ability to interact with regulatory personnel and industry peers;

In-depth knowledge of security concepts and operations;

Job specific knowledge of regulatory requirements and station procedures;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Excellent problem solving skills;

Ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks;

Maintains a high degree of proficiency in tactics and firearms;

Experience and knowledge of weaponry, computer and audio/visual aids, simulation devices and range target systems promoting training;

Ability to assess training needs with knowledge of all aspects of the systematic approach to training and its applicability to security lesson plans and classroom application.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline: Business Administration, Criminal Justice

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred disciplines(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Basic Training Instructor Certification (Dominion Energy), NRA or equivalent Pistol Instructor Certification, NRA or equivalent Patrol Rifle Instructor Certication, OC Instructor Certication, Certified for applicable defensive tactics, intermediate weapons.
