Nuclear Instrument Technician I

Job Summary

This is the entry level in a 3 level job series. 

Candidates will only be considered for the position level to which they apply.  In order to be considered for other levels, you must apply directly to the job posting for that level.

Nuclear Instrument Technician responsibilities include:

Performs testing, calibration and repair of power plant equipment and components (i.e.: pneumatic, electric, electronic, microprocessor). Troubleshoot all phases of instrumentation and process system. Provide support service to various on-site departments in the areas of calibration, repair and documentation of data. Develop and maintain the Instrument and Control Automation Plan. Incumbents at this level are fully competent and independent nuclear instrument technicians. May provide technical lead to and assist in training of less experienced technicians.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Successfully completed the Naval Nuclear Propulsion training program and possess a minimum of 3 years experience (hands on experience in the field/fleet)  in the following discipline; Nuclear Electronics Technician (ET)

OR

Possess 3 years or more industrial experience in a directly related field (ex. Instrument & Controls, electronics, etc).  Military electronic experience in any Armed Force Services is preferred. 

OR

Successfully completed the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Training program and possess a minimum of 3 years combined Navy Nuclear Electronics Technician and Industrial experience in a directly related field (ex. Instrument & Controls, electronics, etc).

Education Requirements

Associate Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education
