Job Information

Millstone Power Station is seeking entry level Health Physics Technicians (Health Physics Technician T1 and T2).

Positions will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.


We are also hiring for Health Physics Technicians T3 and fully qualified Technicians.  In order to be considered for these positions, you must apply to the corresponding requisition.


The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below. 

Job Summary

HP Tech T1:

•    Participates primarily in classroom training learning the basics concepts of radiological protection

•    Perform frisker source checks and routine decontamination procedures

•    Collect routine radiological air samples

•    Issue respiratory protection and Health Physics Instrumentation

•    Perform laundry facility duties

•    Perform other duties as requested or assigned


HP Tech T2:

•    Perform routine radiological surveys, sampling and analysis to determine radiation hazards

•    Perform radiological surveys and samples and document results to ensure compliance with established procedures and limits

•    Perform operability checks, calibration and repair, of various health physics instrumentation

•    Attend formal classroom training sessions and maintain acceptable academic standards

•    Perform assigned duties in support of the Emergency Response Team

•    Update and maintain routine personnel exposure records

•    Perform other duties as requested or assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

HP Tech T1:

  • Associate's Degree (or two years of directly related experience).  Students who will receive their degree by spring 2022 are eligible for consideration.


HP Tech T2:

  • Associate's Degree (or two years of directly related experience)
  • One year of related Radiation Protection experience (preferably within the nuclear industry)


Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater may be considered one year towards the qualifications.


Both levels must be able to fulfill duties as directed for Station Emergency Plan to include obtaining and maintaining required ERO/SERO qualifications, participation in ERO/SERO exercises and drills, verifying availability through response to ERO/SERO call in drills.


Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W-1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experienced as outlined above are encouraged to apply.

Education Requirements

Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.

Preferred discipline:  Technical

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline listed above.
