Job Summary

Millstone Power Station is seeking a fully qualified Health Physics Technician to join the team.

Job duties will include:

Provide radiological protection to protect the health and safety of the general public and employees from the hazards of radiation through surveys, analyses, sampling and compliance with regulations, standards and procedures.

Provide job coverage for radiological concerns during routine and special plant maintenance activities.

Perform routine and random radiation surveys (including personnel exposure, equipment contamination, air samples) to assess radiological conditions.

Prepare and monitor Radiation Work Permits.

Inspect, calibrate and maintain radiological protection instrumentation and sampling equipment.

Provide technical expertise and support to all radiological protection program elements.

Evaluate regulatory and industry standards for applicability to radiological control activities.

Prepare, analyze, survey, package and ship radioactive material and waste.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

4 years of radiological control experience gained through one of the following or a combination of;

  • Naval Nuclear overhaul experience as an ELT
  • Experience as an Article 108 Qualified Shipyard Tender Radcon Monitor
  • Commercial RP experience (nuclear is preferred)

(Non-overhaul experience will be considered to be the equivalent of one year of experience)


Both of the following qualification must be met in addition to the 4 years of experience required above.

  • Completion of HP Tech Development Program (in-house, Shipyard) or Navy Nuke ELT pipeline school
  • AS Degree or equivalent related experience. 


Navy Nuclear Engineering Laboratory Technician (ELT) experience is highly desirable.  NEC Codes 3356, 3376, 3386, 3366, 3396 are encouraged to apply.

NRRPT certification is highly preferred.


Additional requirements:

  • Must successfully pass the EEI Technician (TECH) aptitude test, administered on site during the pre-employment process.
  • Must obtain and maintain required ERO qualifications
  • Possess a high degree of manual dexterity and ability and should be capable of learning and applying basic skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain and be a member of the site Emergency Response Organization.

Education Requirements

Associate Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education
