Engineering Technical Specialist I/II - Vibration Analyst

Job Summary

The Site Engineering, Millstone Components Engineering Group is looking for an Engineering Technical Specialist I (entry level) or Engineering Technical Specialist II (fully competent level).  


The successful candidate will perform routine to moderate work assignments designed to develop professional engineering technology work knowledge, technical skills and experience within the functional area or specific engineering discipline necessary to progress. This role does not function as a technician in modifying, operating or maintaining systems or equipment.


The Millstone Components Engineering group is seeking a technical specialist to perform data acquisition and analysis of component vibration and monitoring data using varied technologies. Other tasks will include air flow measurement, performing acquisition and analysis of thermographic data, installation of ultrasonic portable flow instrumentation. Additionally, this position will serve as the Components check valve program owner and perform non-intrusive check valve diagnostics using VOTEs Infinity equipment. Qualification and Ownership as a software owner for several software programs in support of the above equipment is expected.


Engineering Technical Specialist II applicants will need to have demonstrated experience and hold “Vibration Analyst Level I” certification meeting SNT-TC-1A/ANST requirements or better.


Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below are encouraged to apply.


The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.


A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the year of experience.

A Master's Degree will count as one year toward the years of experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineering Technical Specialist I - 0-2 years of relevant experience

Engineering Technical Specialist II - 3+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated competencies in applicable discipline plus Vibration Analyst Level I certification meeting SNT-TC-1A/ANST requirements.


  • Knowledge of engineering principals, theories and practices.  
  • Ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline. Ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
  • Effective oral, written and graphical communication skills including technical writing; ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.  
  • Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements and  experiments.  
  • Ability to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
  • Ability to function effectively independently and as a member on a technical team.
  • Organization and project management skills.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including knowledge of applicable software programs.

Bachelor degree


In order to be a titled Engineering Technical Specialist, you must meet one of the following criteria:

- 4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or

- 4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or

- 4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or

- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree
