Job Summary

The Nuclear Engineering department at Millstone Nuclear Power Station is looking for an Electrical Engineer II and/or III.  The candidate will fill a position in the Engineering Department, possible positions: Systems, Design and Calculations.

 

Position(s) will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

The primary area of focus will be electrical systems engineering in support of operating Millstone Units 2 & 3.  Specific duties are position-dependent but include monitoring and trending of electrical system health, preparation of engineering technical evaluations, maintain and develop calculations, and development of design changes. The candidate will work in a broad range of Electrical Power and I&C issues both on the component and system level.

Candidates will be expected to have or gain familiarity with nuclear power plant design, including the Electrical Distribution System and or the Instrumentation and Control Systems at the station.   A Training program will be provided for the new candidate to obtain a required basic level of knowledge for understanding, plant design basis, operations, maintenances as well as work planning structure, including normal and emergency operating procedures.”

Based on qualifications, this role is fully competent or expert level in all conventional aspects of the subject matter. This is the second or third level position in the engineering series

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer II:

-ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Preferred discipline: Electrical)

-Minimum three years of engineering experience

 

Nuclear Engineer III:

-ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Preferred discipline: Electrical)

-Minimum five years of engineering experience

 

 Person will be responsible for such areas as:

• Problem investigation and solutions
• Direct interaction with all power plant departments
• Reading electrical and piping drawings
• Use of Excel, spreadsheets and formulas
• Preparing design packages
• Instrumentation and Controls
• Wiring and ladder diagrams
• Logic diagrams

 

Education Requirements

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
