Job Summary

Millstone Power Station in Waterford, CT is seeking an entry level to senior level Controls Specialist.

Role will include engineering product closeout tracking, NCAQ CR closeout tracking, WGST tracking, VTM coordination duties, CFAM data reporting, and coordinating design resource meetings.

Additional Job duties include:

  • Develop, implement and coordinate planning, estimating, and cost controls for power station construction projects.
  • Develop and maintain cost plan for power station construction projects based on approved estimates and schedules.
  • Monitor actual project cost and/or work status data to ensure project is proceeding on schedule and within budget.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly budget variance reports for management. Implement, evaluate and monitor controls systems.
  • Coordinate use of controls equipment and facilities. Conduct meetings with contractors and company personnel on cost control matters.
  • Fill role of design engineering designee.  
  •  Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

Associate:  -2+ years of relevant experience in directly related field; Controls specialist:  3+ years of relevant experience;  Senior Controls specialist:  5+ years of relevant experience.

  • Associate Degree or Bachelors (financial or technical preferred)  An equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.
  • Prior experience in projects and estimating preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written), attention to detail, teamwork, analytical and organizational skills, and ability to prioritize and manager multiple tasks are essential for success in this position.
  • Good oral, written and graphical communication skills required, to include basic technical writing skills.
  • Ability to learn and conduct standard tests, measurements and experiments.
  • Ability to function as a member on a technical team.
  • Able to estimate engineering person-hours for the design, equipment/parts costs, and implementing labor durations and costs
  • Basic knowledge of computers, keyboarding skills and the use of Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and applicable software programs.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines:  Construction Management, Engineering
