Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina is seeking a Customer Project Designer, Level I, II, or III, for our Langley Office located in the Western District.  This office services the Aiken, North Augusta, Augusta, and surrounding areas.  There is one position available which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates' education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
 
Lighting’s Customer Project Designer’s major responsibility will be the design and coordination of small, medium, and large outdoor lighting projects to include backyard, parking lot, subdivision, and roadway installations. The successful candidate will create and modify technical drawings; calculate job costing and customer charges; prepare 5-year contracts; and prepare and complete work orders. In addition, the successful candidate will interact directly with internal and external customers to resolve project issues and support all goals, functions, and needs of the Lighting Department. The candidate will use several programs to the completion of projects, to include Salesforce, ArcMap, AutoCAD, WFM (an internal job estimating program), and CIS (our internal Customer Information System).

 

The selected candidate must reside within or be willing to relocate within a 30-mile driving radius (or 40- minute drive) of the Langley Office at 132 Langley Dam Rd, Warrenville, SC.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):

 

Customer Project Designer I
•    0 – 2+ years of relevant experience with an associate's degree OR
•    2+ years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or GED
•    Performs all or most all standard work under general supervision
•    Performs assignments designed to develop work knowledge, skills and abilities requiring application of policies, procedures, techniques, and other criteria in carrying out all aspects of the job
•    Performs routine work assignments but over time will demonstrate the ability to perform more difficult work assignments
•    Works under established policies and procedures to meet set schedules and system or program requirements
•    Continues to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities to reach a higher level of proficiency and work complexity
 
 Customer Project Designer II
•    2 -3+ years relevant experience with an associate's degree OR
•    4+ years relevant experience with a High School Diploma or GED
•    Performs all standard and some specialized, more complex aspects under limited supervision
•    Proficiently performs assignments having the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience needed to carry out all aspects of the job
•    Exercises independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing, and conducting work assignments
•    Effectively utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments
•    Identifies and eliminates unnecessary work and non-value-added activities
 
Customer Project Designer III
•    5+ years relevant experience with an associate's degree OR
•    7+ years relevant experience with a High School Diploma or GED
•    Provides oversight, direction, training, and technical assistance to junior level support positions under limited or no supervision
•    Expertly performs assignments having the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience needed to carry out all aspects of the job
•    Exercises independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing, and conducting work assignments
•    Resolves complex problems independently and reaches decisions under conditions of uncertainty
 
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for All Three Levels:
•    Basic computers skills
•    Verbal, written and interpersonal communication; time management and organization skills
•    Math and technical aptitude
•    Effectively interact with customers
•    Physical attributes to perform essential function of the job: walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing
•    Must be able to drive and operate a company vehicle with Safety as the #1 priority
•    Must be flexible to work after-hours, scheduled overtime and callout for emergency/ storm restoration as required.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: 

Associates

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Notary Public; Must complete Projects Designer Development Program; Valid state driver's license
