Job Summary

The Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) department is seeking a Supervisor of Projects – SLR Projects for Surry Nuclear Power Station who will lead the projects group by supervising a designated group of project managers, project leaders, coordinators and schedulers.  This individual will report to the Engineering Manager–Nuclear Projects Technical Support (SLR) at Surry. This position will be responsible for overseeing the safe and effective execution of the approved major SLR projects while ensuring that they are completed on schedule and budget. 

Work with the team on the site Long Range Plan to ensure all SLR projects are integrated into the existing station plan for modifications (routine and outage-related).  

Interface with the Managers of Design and System/Program Engineering department leadership (SLR, station and Corporate) to solicit design engineering and SME support for SLR projects. 

Work with Supervisor of Projects in SLR and Fleet to ensure fleet commonality as well leverage best practices and Operating Experience.

Work with SLR Design Supervisors for EOC support of design change and specification products to drive accountability with delivering technically sound engineering products that are on schedule.  

Support the PMs to ensure that barriers to success are eliminated obtaining support from successively higher levels of management as necessary. Includes providing support with presentations at the plant health committees, Challenge boards, Executive Risk Review Boards, Outage Readiness Meetings (including T+3) and project funding review board meetings.

Interface with Supervisors/Managers of Outage & Planning, Maintenance, Nuclear Site Services, Operations, Training and Security to ensure site/fleet alignment with Station goals and to work thru project challenges.

Support the PMs in determining the appropriate PSOW approvals (as required) and project team participation from key stakeholders. 

Interface with the Manager of SLR Project Controls to ensure understanding of responsibilities and expectations exist for control to support the PSOW and cost controls initiatives. 

Provide management oversight of all project parties to identify needed corrective actions pertaining to SLR projects and act as the department corrective action coordinator (DCAC)

Provide management oversight of all engineering vendors and equipment suppliers/manufacturers to ensure products are developed and provided to meet quality standards. 

Provide oversight of project managers to ensure adherence to the Project GARDs and other project expectations.

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:

Minimum of 7+ years of engineering experience of which 2-4 shall be nuclear plant experience and a bachelor's degree OR Minimum of 10+ years of engineering experience of which 2-4 shall be nuclear plant experience with an SRO license or certification or STA. 
Proactively develop new and lesser experienced PMs/PLs to move on to greater responsibility.
Lead personnel to safely and efficiently execute work on-site or at remote locations by following standards and procedures, organize resources to achieve project/station goals.
Demonstrate high level of ownership for their responsibilities, persists through adversity, and follows through with commitments.  
Acts with bias for action to challenge and correct behaviors and promote high standards of performance. Demonstrate high integrity, safety, professionalism, and appropriate behavior driven results.  
Proactively communicates information and decisions to personnel and station leaders in a manner that is honest, direct, and meaningful.  
Demonstrates and promotes a clear bias for action to resolve issues while exhibiting sound judgment and conservative decision making.
Maintains appropriate oversight of personnel and acts promptly to provide direction when necessary on-site or at remote locations.
Demonstrated ability to understand a wide variety of topics and be sufficiently intrusive to ensure all work items under their area of responsibility are produced with the highest of quality including technical accuracy.

Preferred:  Minimum of 3 years of project management experiences where you were the assigned as lead project manager with successful project results, PMP certification,2 years in leadership role. Previous experience with nuclear power plant systems (commercial or military).

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s):  Engineering, Engineering Technology

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

ANSI 3.1-2014, Section 4.4.8 (must be documented on form HR-AA-101)

Education:  Baccalaureate degree in engineering or related science.

Minimum Experience for the position:

Related experience which shall include 4 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr.  On site experience to include .25 yr.

Note:  Years of experience in job summary exceed the ANSI requirement for related experience (7+ years required for Supv Nuclear Engineering).
