We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

Surry Power Station is currently seeking candidates for a Supervisor- Nuclear Engineering position.

The selected individual will provide management and direction to Electrical Design Engineering responsible for the design and implementation of high-quality nuclear engineering changes at Surry Power Station. 

Manage Engineering work activities in support of electrical modifications, Design Testing, and Cyber Security Program.

Provide proactive leadership in managing their areas of responsibility to ensure optimum cost effective, design basis performance while continually striving for improved reliability and availability.

Manage both Dominion and Contractor personnel. Must be able to work in a collaborative fashion with all station groups (Maintenance, Nuclear Site Services and I&C) to facilitate timely and reliable implementation schedules.

Interface with employees in other company departments and outside engineering firms.

Of prime importance is the ability to coach, mentor and supervise the development of effective and energetic engineers.   

Perform duties as Engineering point of conduct as Engineering Manager on Call (EMOC) and as Outage Control Center Engineering Representative when assigned during outage periods.

This position will be required to participate in Emergency Response Organization (ERO). May be required to occasionally work hours other than dayshift to support emergent activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of power plant operations

Ability to organize and manage human resources

7+ years of engineering experience of which at least 1 year shall be nuclear power plant experience. On-site experience to include at least .25 yr.

Strong leadership and organizational skills are a must.

Must have very strong oral and written communication skills.

Previous experience in engineering design or construction projects is required.

Knowledge of power plant operations is required with an ability to organize and manage human resources.

Certification as a nuclear Shift Technical Advisor or Senior Reactor Operator is desired but not required.

Some experience with the work management process is desired but not required.

Nuclear station engineering experience is a significant advantage.

 

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s):  Engineering, Engineering Technology

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

ANSI 3.1-2014, Section 4.4.8 (must be documented on form HR-AA-101)

Education:  Baccalaureate degree in engineering or related science.

Minimum Experience for the position:

Related experience which shall include 4 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr.  On site experience to include .25 yr.

Note:  Years of experience in job summary exceed the ANSI requirement for related experience (7+ years required for Supv Nuclear Engineering).
