Nuclear Construction Specialist - Electrical

Job Summary

Surry Power Station in Surry, VA is seeking an experienced Nuclear Construction Specialist in the Electrical field.

 

Job responsibilities include:

  • Provide complete technical support by reviewing design change packages prior to implementation.
  • Monitor work activities in the field. Review engineering drawings, specifications, design change packages and recommend changes or additions.
  • Provide necessary interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications, and design change packages.
  • The construction specialist will provide budget and schedule input (manpower, duration, materials) for projects they are assigned.
  • Resolve construction related problems involving the engineering drawings, specifications and design change packages.
  • Perform field walkdowns and constructability reviews prior to the start of work to identify potential problems.
  • Monitor work of electrical group.
  • Prepare construction procedures and documents as required for implementation of work scope.
  • Coordinate, monitor, document all aspects of material transactions required by Nuclear Site Services to complete design changes.
  • Coordinate and monitor the performance of external vendors.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • May be required to be the department representative for various committees or organizations.
  • May be required to become a member of the site Emergency Response Organization. 

 

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 6 or more years of constructions/ project experience which may include hands on project management experience in the electrical craft or documented experience in the planning and / or implementation of electrical construction projects.
  • Knowledge of electrical design, procedures and codes including the National Electrical Code.
  • Experience in design engineering, drafting, or equivalent.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of MicroStation V8i and ARC GIS software and a general understanding of the North American Datum systems preferred. 

 

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above are encouraged to apply.

 

Note:

A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the year of experience.

A Master's Degree will count as one year toward the years of experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education

Engineering/maintenance/project management experience required
