Nuclear Chemistry Technician T1

Job Summary

Training consists of station orientation, chemical sampling procedures, gas and water testing methods, and identification and review of periodic test.

Candidate will:

  • Learn basic chemistry fundamentals, appropriate use of human performance tools and basic laboratory practices.
  • Learn to perform basic chemical test and analyses including spectrophotometry and titration.
  • Collect chemical samples from various plant systems.
  • Perform gas and water tests in conjunction with the training program.
  • Perform basic chemical tests and analyses in conjunction with the training program.


This position may be required to be a member of the Station Emergency Response Organization.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • One year each of college level math (pre-calculus), chemistry, and physics.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in fundamental elements of science and mathematics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using oral and written skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and within the framework of a team.
  • Ability to work under adverse environmental conditions i.e. high temperatures.
  •  Satisfactory score on the Technician Occupations Selection System Test (TECH test). 

Preferred: Associates in Mathematics or Science (Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science) or Navy Engineering Laboratory Technician

  •  A copy of transcripts will be required. 

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members - Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined are highly desired. 

Education Requirements

High School diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Science, Chemistry or Mathematics preferred. An equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

One year each of college level mathematics (pre-calculus), chemistry, and physics.Satisfactory score on the Technicians Occupations Selection System Test.
