Job Summary

Surry Nuclear Power Station is searching for a Manager-Nuclear Construction in the Projects Department.  This position provides management and direction for the execution of all capital and major nuclear plant modification projects. Some of the projects include the Main Electrical Generator Replacement, Steam Generator Replacements, Digital Upgrades, Feedwater Heater Replacements, various HVAC systems, Large Cable Replacements, Polar Crane and Fuel Handling System replacements.  The selected candidate must participate in defining the overall implementation strategy of projects including implementation vendor selections as well as the required Dominion oversight of vendor/supplemental planning and work activities. Provide executive updates and progress reports as required for all construction related activities.  Responsible for developing the Dominion and augmented staffing plans to meet project objectives. This position is expected to have staff including Dominion direct reports, contractors, and matrixed employees. Manage constructability reviews of small- and large-scale projects to ensure the safe and successful planning/execution of projects.  Manage small- and large-scale implementation construction firms. 

 

The candidate will have sustained focus on developing a strong safety culture with both direct reports and construction firms by ensuring that vendor oversight and safety plans are communicated, understood and followed to ensure safe and cost-effective project executions.  Manage and control the construction related capital budget for the Station. Monitor and review the progress and performance of department and staff to ensure personnel, procedures, milestones and materials are met in accordance with the standards and procedures.  Proactively develop performance improvement plans when declining performance trends are identified. Maintain a high quality of work. Schedule, plan, and prioritize daily activities for project controls and construction departments. Responsible for station housekeeping, vehicle maintenance, and tool control. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

-8+ years demonstrated proficiency in leading and directing Construction related aspects of large capital projects and modifications; including managing a contractor workforce.

-8 years of experience planning, execution, testing and close-out of large projects.

-Construction Superintendent or Manager of Construction level experience in a complex nuclear or industrial complex.

-Demonstrates visible, accountable leadership for safety in all field operations.

-Establishes and reinforces a strong safety culture by proactively identifying hazards, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and holding self and others accountable for safe work practices.

-Integrates safety into planning, execution, and decision‑making to protect employees, contractors, and the public.

-Demonstrated strong communication with other managers as well as direct reports;

-Ability to provide clear direction and expectations;

-Ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels in organization;

-Demonstrated presentation skills to large groups of employees;

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s):  Engineering, Construction Management

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

Expected Hiring Base Salary Range:

 

$149800 - $194500

 

The expected hiring base salary range is the range we anticipate hiring within for this position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and work location.
