Job Summary
Dominion Energy’s Surry Power Station is seeking a 2025 Mechanical Engineering summer intern to serve as a member of the Station’s Nuclear Engineering Auxiliary Systems Engineering Group. The qualified candidate will work on site and provide technical support to Maintenance and Operations on a broad range of issues both on the component and system level. The intern will also provide repair recommendations, design modifications and Engineering documentation to support planned work activities. The candidate will be expected to gain familiarity with Nuclear Power Plant design. Activities include, but not limited to:
Providing proactive leadership in managing systems and components to ensure optimum, reliable, and cost effective system performance
- Supporting Operations and Maintenance in troubleshooting and resolving system and component issues
- Performing analyses and evaluations that support nuclear plant operation (eg pump, valve, heat exchanger performance)
- Developing/Supporting design modification packages to improve system/component performance
- Supporting field inspections of components and systems within the power plant.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Good general computer skills including proficiency with using Microsoft Office products is desired.

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.

Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
Education Requirements
Must be a student studying Engineering (not Engineering Technology), Mechanical Engineering at an ABET accredited 4-year college or university and have a GPA of at least 3.0 and be a rising junior or senior with a planned graduation date between December 2025 and Spring 2027.
