Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity. 



 

 

Job Summary

Security Instrument & Controls Technician, assisting with the inspection, testing, service, repair, calibration, and installation of various security equipment (i.e. weapons detection, perimeter intrusion detection, magnetic switches and locks, x-ray scanners, metal detectors, and access card readers). Installing indicating, recording and automatic control instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, thermometers, regulators, and similar components in a power station.  Using electrical troubleshooting skills, portable test equipment (digital multi-meters, etc.) and analysis of computer software to assist in troubleshooting and locating cause of defective performance equipment.  Report findings to supervisor and replace component parts as required.  Use portable pressure gauges, manometer, and other similar test equipment.  Perform preventative maintenance. Test flue gas, read meters and record data as required.

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.  May be required to be a member of the Station Emergency Response Organization. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

2 + years of relevant experience in related technical field (instrumentation, electronics etc.). Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot various components. Ability to utilize configuration drawings.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Associate

Discipline Preferred: Technical

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred disciplines(s) listed above.

Dependent on sharing functional responsibilities for the position.North Anna and Surry must meet ANS 3.1 12/79, Section 4.5.2Millstone must meet ANSI N18.1 - 1971, Section 4.5.2
