Job Summary
This position is a Nuclear I & C Design and Cyber Security Engineer I - III/Engineering Technical Specialist I - III (based on candidate experience and degree). The successful candidate will work on site and provide design support to the station developing digital I&C design change documentation for plant modifications and assist in understanding, evaluation, and maintaining the existing Design Configuration of Surry Power Station. The candidate will also be responsible for development, documentation, and periodic assessment of Cyber Security controls. A training program will be provided for the new candidate to obtain a required basic level of knowledge for understanding plant design basis, operations, maintenances as well as work planning structure, including normal and emergency operating procedures. Candidates will provide equal support in Cyber Security and Plant Modifications to meet the needs of the station. Candidates whose experience is mainly either Cyber Security or Engineering Design will be considered. The preferred candidate will have both Cyber Security and Plant Modification experience.
Responsibilities include:
Perform a broad range of Digital I&C design activities to support development of design change documentation, including modification of system requirements, system network architecture, control logic, and HMI.
Support installation and testing of the plant system modified by the design changes.
Participate in the development of engineering analysis to support the operation of the plant.
Assure all engineering products are developed in accordance with approved processes and procedures.
Maintain digital and cyber security configuration for reliable and secure operation.
Assisting in protecting Critical Digital Assets (CDAs) from cyber threat through monitoring and auditing of CDAs;
Understanding the cyber security implications surrounding the overall architecture of plant networks, operating systems, hardware platforms, plant specific applications, and the services and protocols upon which those applications rely;
Performing cyber security related duties including generating cyber assessments and component classification in accordance with 10 CFR 73.54 and NEI 08-09 Criteria
Ensuring cyber security assessments of CDAs are performed and documented prior to being presented to Cyber Security Assessment Team for review and approval
Assisting in the designing, acquiring, installing, or administering security controls
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
Engineer II/Engineering Technical Specialist II: 3+ years of relevant engineering experience;
Engineer III/Engineering Technical Specialist III: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals;
Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position;
Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives;
Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management;
Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.);
Planning, organizational and project management skills;
Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills;
Effective decision making skills;
Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);
Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;
Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;
Equally effective working independently or in a team environment;
Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
For Nuclear purposes only: ANSI 3.1-2014, Section 4.6.1 (must be documented on form HR-AA-101)
Education: Baccalaureate degree in Engineering or related science (Physics, Chemistry, Math, Engineering Technology acceptable if all other pieces of the third prong of the Required Engineering Criteria listed in KSA section are met).
Minimum Experience for the position:
Related experience which shall include 2 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr.
Note: Years of experience in job summary exceed the ANSI requirement for related experience (3+ years required for Engineer II).
