Job Summary
This job is not part of the Nuclear Procedure Writer series.
Responsible for reviewing and coordinating the development and maintenance of standards, and work methods and procedures for the administration of nuclear programs and work practices. Monitors industry practices, procedures, and experiences for applicability to procedural changes. Tracks plant issues and procedural modifications. Develops recommendations for programmatic, technical, and process changes. Facilitates the development and maintenance of station and/or corporate procedures, nuclear standards and directives. Serves as a primary contact for coordinating the development of procedures between multiple stations, departments and corporate to ensure consistency, program efficiency and effectiveness. Facilitates interface between user departments to insure open communications with procedures staff. Prepares performance and/or ad hoc reports for management, monitors plant and industry issues, develops/modifies procedure templates and rules of usage as needed. Assesses and schedules upgrades of existing procedures. Acts as a resource to procedure writers by assisting in defining project objectives, reviewing work, and problem solving. Provide programmatic and technical support to other procedures sections. Assists in the evaluation of staff augmentation proposals and provide contract administration services to station procedures groups. (Corporate) Give presentations regarding procedures to Facility Safety Review Committee (FSRC) and other committees as requested. Coordinates activities associated with the electronic production, storage, and transfer of data relating to corporate and station procedures. Works collaboratively with the customer and scheduling department to ensure plan of the day (POD) scheduled work is incorporated into the writers work schedule. May assist supervisor in preparing and monitoring budget and goals.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
2-3+ years directly related experience. (In lieu of preferred related Bachelor's degree, may substitute related Associate's degree and 4+ years of directly related experience or High School diploma/GED and 6+ years of directly related experience that demonstrates knowledge of relevant fundamental theories, principles and concepts.)
Previous nuclear work experience and experience in writing and performing procedural reviews. Considerable knowledge of technical writing protocols, standards and guidelines. Knowledge of industry practices and performance metrics. Strong analytical skills, ability to multi-task, review, assess and assign a variety of procedures based on engineering transmittals, design requests, or project scope, demonstrated ability to read, interpret and present technical information. Excellent organizational skills, proven ability to conduct technical reviews, apply knowledge of standards and guidelines, assess scope and applicability of design change packages or requests. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of management and present technical information. Good negotiation skills required to negotiate, prioritize, assign and implement change requests and coordinate changes impacting multiple departments or plants. Strong attention to detail to ensure writing consistency, clarity, and content appropriateness. Ability to make work assignments and provide feedback and technical guidance to others. Skilled in use of various computer software and procedure writing programs.
