Job Summary
Surry is looking for a controls specialist or senior controls specialist in its Projects department. Develop, implement and coordinate planning, estimating, and cost controls for power station construction projects. Develop and review project estimates and schedules. Monitor actual project cost and/or work status data to ensure projects proceed on schedule and within budget and provide status reports to management. Develop and review O & M and capital budgets and analyze monthly cost reports. Assist in training lower-level controls personnel. Implement, evaluate and monitor controls systems. Coordinate use of controls equipment and facilities. Conduct meetings with contractors and company personnel on cost control matters. Act as lead controls discipline representative to major projects. Interface and coordinate with other corporate and station groups. Establish and implement cost and planning control policy and procedures for power station construction project.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:
Controls Specialist:
- 2+ years of relevant experience in directly related field (Financial). (Also acceptable: 4+ years relevant experience in directly related field, plus a related Associate degree, or 6+ years relevant experience with High School Diploma or GED);
Senior Controls Specialist:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in directly related field (financial). (Also acceptable: 7+ years relevant experience in directly related field, plus a related Associate degree, or 9+ years relevant experience with High School Diploma or GED);
- Strong knowledge of cost controls principles
- Strong Verbal/writing/presentation skills
- Strong work and project management skills
- Strong decision making and problem solving
- Strong math and computer skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Works effectively with employees at all levels and external personnel
- Consistently applies good business judgment
- Applies analytical abilities to diverse issues
- Manages multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Must be able to verify data and present statistical reports and documentation
- Computer proficiency including Maximo, SAP, CAPS, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and Plant Asset Management System (PAMS).
Education Requirements
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Bachelor
Preferred Disciplines: Construction Management, Engineering
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above
