Job Summary

The Dominion Generation business unit is seeking highly-motivated individuals to perform Laborer activities at the Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center (VCHEC) in Wise County, VA.  VCHEC is a new state-of-the-art coal and wood waste-fired power station located in the beautiful mountains of southwest VA (near St. Paul, VA).  With a net generating capacity of approximately 610 MW, the station provides electricity to power about 150,000 homes!

 

The successful candidate will perform general housekeeping and maintenance duties inside and outside of the power station in all types of weather conditions.  This includes general clean up by sweeping, scrubbing/waxing floors; cleaning in the fuel, ash, lime, limestone and wood handling facilities and other spaces; removing trash and shoveling coal, wood, lime, limestone, fly ash and bed ash from various areas of the station; washing areas such as the boiler, baghouse, scrubber, and material handling area; cleaning vehicles and equipment, other general tasks such as painting, running errands, cleaning up oil spills, etc.

 

The position has a starting pay rate of $20.35 per hour.  While the regular working schedule is days, Monday through Friday, Laborers must have the ability to work planned and emergency overtime hours and call-out as needed (to include evenings, weekends and holidays).

 

A valid driver's license is required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Basic Requirements (Be sure to include details in your resume):
High School diploma or GED with 0-2 years of experience.
Valid State driver's license.
Preferences (Be sure to include details in your resume if you meet one or more of the following):
Relevant prior military experience
Physical requirements:
Ability to operate heavy equipment such as BobCats, forklifts and tractors
Ability to assist all departments daily in areas of physical labor duties
Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
Ability to work occasional planned and emergency overtime
