Dominion Energy is seeking a Safety Specialist/Senior Safety Specialist to join the jeam in Salt Lake City, UT. There is only one position available that will be filled at either the Safety Specialist or Sr Safety Specialist level, commensurate with the selected candidates' skills and abilities.
This role recommends and administers various company safety and health policies and programs. Identifies potential safety, health, workers compensation and fire protection prevention risks and implements corrective measures. Monitors and evaluates workplace to ensure compliance with all OSHA and company regulations. Performs safety and health inspections/audits and monitors work practices to ensure employees are performing jobs in compliance with regulatory and company safety policies and programs. Develops, implements and conducts safety and health protection training and presentations. May administer public safety programs for external contractors.
Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):
Safety Specialist:
- Master's degree with a minimum 2 years of directly related experience administering safety and health programs OR
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3 years of directly related experience administering safety and health programs
Senior Safety Specialist:
- Master's degree with a minimum 4 years of directly related experience administering safety and health programs OR
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum 5 years of directly related experience administering safety and health programs
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for both Safety Specialist & Senior Safety Specialist:
- In-depth knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 OSHA Standards
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene sampling and surveying techniques
- In-depth knowledge of safety metrics, root cause analysis techniques, excavation safety, confined space entry, fall protection requirements, hot work safety, gas pipeline safety, hazard communication, mobile equipment requirements and mobile crane safety
- Experience in developing and implementing safety and health related training presentations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective personal computer skills (Microsoft Suite: Power Point, Excel, and Word).
- Excellent time and project management skills and ability to work well with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications and Certifications:
- Certification in one or more of the following disciplines: Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or Professional Engineer
- Experience as a First-Aid/CPR Instructor
- Knowledge of hazardous material/chemical management and transportation
Military Experience:
- The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined above.
Degree or equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor's
Disciplines: Preferred: Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field
