Physical Security Consultant (Western Operations)

Job Summary

Subject matter expert on all matters related to physical security activities and services related to company Western operations. Provides expert guidance to employees assigned to complex and critical physical, analytical, or technical security roles. Provides technical leadership of resources responsible for regulatory compliance activities, or using sophisticated security technologies that impact a diverse, complex energy company.

Interfaces and represents the company with a variety of federal, state and local government and law enforcement agencies. Ensures readiness and qualification of physical security personnel for daily security activities, as well as contingency response during emergencies. Manages costs for security services. Acts as expert on security issues and provides advice to management. May manage security initiatives to facilitate effective infrastructure protection strategies through enterprise.

May ensure security regulatory compliance throughout the enterprise. May manage the development of security plans and protocols to support regulatory and non-regulatory compliance at company facilities, related to access control. May provide technical leadership on all physical security aspects of the regulatory compliance process. May ensure completion of timely, relevant, energy-related intelligence gathering and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

May oversee in-depth threat analyses and predictive analyses results. May develop, and manage development of security plans, policies, procedures, and risk assessments. May manage contracts for physical and technical security services and ensure compliance. May oversee and conduct diverse, complex, and sensitive investigations into issues of significant consequence to the company. May conduct investigative interviews with internal and external subjects. May provide reports and presentations of investigative results. 

May provide armed, protective support for executives and employees, as required.  May provide armed response to emergency situations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
  • 7 years directly related experience preferred. (Note:  A Master's degree can be considered one year experience towards meeting experience requirement.  In addition, six months service will be rounded up to one full year in meeting requirement)
  • 5-6 years experience in an investigative role in law enforecement, corporate security, regulatory or other investigative organization.
  • Investigative experience in case evaluation, investigative planning, case file management, investigative reporting, case presentation under oath or similar setting.
  • Intricate knowledge and understanding of contemporary physical and technical security applications, to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate security risk throughout enterprise.
  • Understanding and knowledge of security systems and applications, to protect company assets and manage access control.
  • Knowledge of energy and public utility security and business requirements.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations necessary to effectively manage security programs and compliance.
  • Consistent demonstration of critical thinking skills in a security environment.
  • Ability to obtain government issued security clearance, as required.
  • Ability to meet and maintain the Corporate Security eligibility requirements to carry a firearm.

    Note:  This position will require 25-50% travel.
Education Requirements

Bachelors Degree or higher level education is required.
