Job Summary

Petroleum Engineer II-WEX (Drilling):
•    Drilling engineer will aid in design work, overseeing operating, and manages activities related to the drilling of primarily natural gas wells. Work within the drilling and completions team to execute work as desired by upper management.
•    Prepares procedures and coordinate work to effectively execute drilling operations. 
•    Works closely with lead engineer, field personnel, vendors, and other team members to appropriately design wellbores to mitigate risk and apply the proper technologies. 
•    Works closely with Geoscience team to plan locations, bottom-hole locations, and future drilling development planning. 
•    Prepare documents necessary for APD approvals and work closely with internal regulatory groups to secure proper permits for new drilling activities. 
•    Work closely with completions, reservoir, geology, production, and operations to coordinate and complete necessary work. 
•    Be highly involved in the daily rig operations, tracking progress, and communicating with field personnel to address problems. 
•    Gather and track drilling metrics to optimize drilling operations. 
•    Review, code, and approve invoices for AFE tracking.
•    Work closely with the Warehouse and Contracts groups to order and maintain equipment inventory necessary for drilling operations.    

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Petroleum Engineer III-WEX (Drilling):
•    Designs, oversees, and manages activities related to the drilling of primarily natural gas wells. Work within the drilling and completions team to execute work as desired by upper management.
•    Prepares procedures, schedules, and coordinate work to effectively execute drilling operations. 
•    Works closely with field personnel, vendors, and other team members to appropriately design wellbores to mitigate risk and apply the proper technologies. 
•    Works closely with Geoscience team to plan locations, bottom-hole locations, and future drilling development planning. 
•    Prepare documents necessary for APD approvals and work closely with internal regulatory groups to secure proper permits for new drilling activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Petroleum Engineer II-WEX (Drilling):
 •    Bachelor’s Degree
 •    Requires a minimum of 3 years' experience in oil and gas engineering with experience in the design and execution of drilling related operations.  
•    Knowledge of petroleum engineering principles and practices. 
•    Knowledge of current drilling technology and techniques to be used and implemented in operations.  
•    Able to interpret results from engineering models involving hydraulics, torque and drag, directional drilling, and other well planning software.
•    With help from lead engineers, implement mud systems, casing design, bit selection, cement design, and other necessary considerations related to drilling.
•    Some knowledge in geomechanical properties and implementing data into drilling designs. 
•    Able to gather budgetary numbers and prepare AFE’s for management approval.
•    Provide variance and lookback reporting as requested by management.
•    Knowledge of APD permitting process and working with regulatory departments.
•    Implement necessary changes to drilling practices to optimize operations.
•    Knowledge of and ability to use a personal computer and related software to meet department needs. 
•    Skilled in relating interpersonally. 
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
•    Ability to apply scientific principles to analyze and solve problems. 
Petroleum Engineer III-WEX (Drilling):
•    Bachelor’s Degree
•    Requires a minimum of 5 years' experience in oil and gas engineering with experience in the design and execution of drilling related operations.  
•    Knowledge of petroleum engineering principles and practices. 
•    Preferred knowledge in well life cycle (planning, drilling, completions, production, and workovers).
•    Knowledge of current drilling technology and techniques to be used and implemented in operations.  
•    Able to interpret results from engineering models involving hydraulics, torque and drag, and other well planning software.
•    Ability to design and implement mud systems, casing design, bit selection, cement design, and other necessary considerations related to drilling.
•    Knowledge and implementation of geomechanical properties into drilling designs. 
•    Able to gather budgetary numbers and prepare AFE’s for management approval.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experiences

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET.

•    Work around load noise, mechanical components, and other hazardous conditions.
•    Be on-call during drilling operations to take phone calls, calculate volumes, and address any other needs that arise.
