Job Summary

 

This position may be filled at an Entry or developmental level position or intermediate level position providing engineering support in designated company area, or specific engineering discipline. Performs engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Under direction of supervisor or work leader, this employee would perform assignments designed to develop and/or enhance professional engineering work knowledge, gain familiarity with techniques, approaches, practices and the nature of engineering systems, equipment, etc. and to develop the ability to apply fundamental engineering principles and techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Exercising judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering.  Roles and responsibilities for this position include:

 

  • Engineer, design, plan and oversee installation of electrical and automation systems associated with natural gas transmission, distribution, storage and processing facilities.
  • Support installed systems for Operations.
  • Integrate systems of instrumentation and control systems for compression, measurement, storage and processing stations by developing the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) logic and Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications.
  • Design electrical power systems for compression, measurement, storage and processing stations.
  • Coordinate small to large scale projects; gather, compile and analyze data used in engineering tasks.
  • Provide field construction and startup assistance of electrical systems.
  • Provide technical assistance for cross-functional teams and work groups.
  • Participate as engineering/technical representative on cross-functional work groups and teams dealing with systems and facilities.
  • Develop project cost estimates, capital budget submittals for future planning.
  • Develop relationships and networks with internal and external sources of expertise.
  • Act as liaison with internal and external sources to ensure familiarity with company functions and operational procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requires: out-of-town travel with overnight stays, sometimes with short notice; periodic weekend on call; on-site visits to field locations in both on- and off-road conditions; prolonged use of a computer keyboard; and exposure to high-voltage electricity.

May require: working overtime, weekends and/or holidays to complete projects or meet deadlines.

 

Relocation assistance will be provided to the successful candidate if eligible.
 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):

 

  • Engineer I - 0-2+ years of engineering experience
  • Engineer II - 3+ years of engineering experience

  • Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, fundamentals and theory;

Military:

  • The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications. Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above.

Education Requirements

Education Level Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering . Electrical Engineer preferred.

 

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:   
 
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: 
 

  • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 
  • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or 
  • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a postgraduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 
  • Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 
  • Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
