Job Summary

One position available which can be filled as an Associate Fleet Technician or Fleet Technician
This position is located in Salt Lake City, UT. 


Associate Fleet Technician:
This is the entry level position in the Fleet Technician job series. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the garage and keeping it clean and orderly, as well as assisting in servicing automotive electrical, mechanical, and fuel systems.

Additional Responsibilities may include:
•    Maintaining company vehicles by keeping them well-lubricated, fueled, and cleaned
•    Performing routine maintenance and repairs on automotive equipment. 
•    Repairing and maintaining construction equipment
•    Servicing automotive equipment by lubricating, changing oil, repairing tires, washing, and packing wheel bearings
•    Assist with mounting vehicle toolboxes, welding equipment, generators, and compressors
•    Completes necessary records of work performed
•    Perform other duties as requested or assigned


Fleet Technician:
This is the second level position in the Fleet Technician job series. Distinguished from Associate Fleet Technician by exercising independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing and conducting work assignments. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the garage and keeping it clean and orderly, as well as servicing automotive electrical, mechanical, fuel, and compressed natural gas (CNG) systems. 

Additional Responsibilities may include:
•    Maintaining company vehicles by keeping them well-lubricated, fueled, and cleaned
•    Performing routine maintenance and repairs on automotive equipment. 
•    Repairing and maintaining construction equipment
•    Servicing automotive equipment by lubricating, changing oil, repairing tires, washing, and packing wheel bearings
•    Assist with mounting vehicle toolboxes, welding equipment, generators, and compressors
•    Completes necessary records of work performed
•    Perform other duties as requested or assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Associate Fleet Technician Minimum Qualifications:
•    High school diploma or GED and 0-2 years of directly related experience; or
•    Vocational/trade school certificate in related program; or
•    Military Service Members/Veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3 and education or experience as described above
Directly Related Experience includes:
Automotive or diesel repair, preventive maintenance, hydraulics/electrical experience, light & heavy-duty trucks and heavy equipment maintenance
Knowledge: Automotive and construction equipment operation and maintenance; basic math; basic knowledge of Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) conversion technology and CNG compression and dispensing equipment.
Skills: Diagnosing and repairing automotive and construction equipment; using hand and power tools, such as hoists, saws, wrenches, and hammers.
Abilities: Communicate effectively, orally and in writing; distinguish the nature of sounds to determine if equipment is running correctly; respond to emergency conditions, which may include changing flat tires, chaining up vehicles, and operating a two-way radio. 
-May need to possess, or acquire within a reasonable timeframe, a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
-May require travel in on- and off-road conditions
-Possession of own hand tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree and 1 year of directly related experience; or
2 years directly related experience as a fleet technician or equivalent
Extensive knowledge and experience with CNG equipment 
Possession of current/valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
