We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

This role functions as a technical resource involved in the day-to-day planning, research and/or compliance of general and specified areas of taxation.
 

Specific responsibilities include:
 

  • May coordinate the preparation and review of all assigned federal, state and/or local tax returns, tax payments, tax accruals, research projects, financial reports and government filings to ensure compliance with government regulations and established procedures, and/or provide technical leadership in coordinating the completion of multiple work assignments and projects.
  • May utilize specialized skills to research tax issues at an advanced level, formulating and providing recommendations to management to minimize tax consequences.
  • May advise management on tax implications of special tax issues related to the energy industry. Analyzes and interprets changes to federal, state or local laws and communicates financial impact of changes to management. May draft or coordinate with outside counsel the drafting of ruling requests, protests and requests to communicate the company's positions with respect to issues arising from tax audits, and may participate in negotiations. Assists in training of co-workers.
  • Coordinates responses for internal and external audits of financial statements, regulatory filings, internal controls, and tax returns.
  • May assist with due diligence in connection with mergers and acquisitions, as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

At least 7 years of related experience. (Note:  A Master's Degree can count towards one year of experience; A partial year of experience of six months or more will count as one year of experience).
 

Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:

 

  • CPA, JD or other appropriate professional certification preferred.
  •  A combination of knowledge developed through formal education and practical experience that demonstrates an advanced to expert understanding of concepts regarding tax laws and tax accounting practices and procedures.
  • Ability to coordinate the completion of multiple work assignments and/or projects, providing guidance where necessary, problem solving, and ensuring that the project team meets its operational deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of tax research methods with ability to interpret tax laws, prepare specialized tax research memorandums, and formulate recommendations for management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with ERP software.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and training to others.
  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to motivate team members towards completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to provide critical feedback and peer reviews for assigned work tasks.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines:   Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Tax

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above

 

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

CPA, JD or other appropriate professional certification preferred.
