We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

This position will be filled at either the mid (T&D Project Specialist II) or senior (T&D Project Specialist III) level based on qualifications of the successful candidate. Level of job complexity, responsibility and supervision oversight will be determined at which level the job will be filled. Distinguished from Project Specialist I by increased responsibility in the application of technical skills and project coordination/management knowledge. The incumbent is capable of providing project support with limited supervision and direction. Assist with analyzing and evaluating existing process improvements to ensure quality assurance and compliance with company/regulatory standards. Independently coordinates with internal and external customers and reviews/approves electric distribution designs created by 3rd party Vendor to ensure company standards, policy and specific scope of work are being followed on programs including electric distribution reliability, planning, main feeder hardening, voltage optimization, 5G/small cell, DG solar, outdoor lighting, Dominion Energy owned fiber, and Joint Use make ready projects. 

 

Responsibilities:
•    Serve as single point of contact for customer/Contractor/municipality; perform due diligence to accurately determine project needs and responsible Design Group.
•    Prepare or assist with designs and cost estimates from scope of work and project requirements.
•    Responsible for coordination of all permits, joint use issues, and easements in timely manner.
•    Provide training as needed for contractor resources to ensure consistency across the system.
•    Assist with resolutions of any quality issues with contractors, third party customers, and/or supplies.
•    Monitor work to ensure compliance with approved quality plans and procedures.
•    Assist with providing leadership skills through training, mentoring and supporting less experienced design personnel as well as interacting with other groups/departments.
•    Assist with interpretation and communication of company policies and procedures to customers.
•    During outage events, utilizes electronic damage assessment tools to provide data for restoration analysis and customer communication.
•    Conducts field assessment of electrical infrastructure for resource allocation and material needs and facilitates logistics for storm response. 
•    Provide design support as determined by department supervisor, utilizing AUD, AutoCAD, or other tools as appropriate.
•    Provide assistance with inspecting project sites, facilitate stakeholder meetings, and provide daily support to designers and vendors.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

T&D Project Specialist II: 2-3+ years of directly related experience includes technical roles related to utility design, construction, operations, or project leadership or project management over utility projects 
T&D Project Specialist III: 5+ years of directly related experience includes technical roles related to utility design, construction, operations, or project leadership or project management over utility projects 

 

For all levels:

  • Previous Dominion Energy Electric Distribution Design experience 
  • Strong knowledge of distribution design, electricity, company policies and procedures and mainframe and personal computer;
  • Demonstrates leadership skills;
  • Skills: good written, verbal and interpersonal communication; math and technical aptitude; time management and organization; project management; analytical;
  • Abilities: adaptable to change, demonstrate initiative, effectively interact with customers; teaming; detail oriented;
  • Physical attributes required to perform essential functions of the job: walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing.

Required Degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):

GED
