Job Summary

This Strategic Advisor role serves as project manager for Dominion Energy’s sustainability-related reporting, including the Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Report, Methane Emissions Reduction Report, and Climate Report. Guides the drafting of content and the overall design, executive review and publishing processes in connection with these reports. Advises on Dominion Energy’s overall environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosure strategy and tracks best practices within the industry and beyond.

Maintains current knowledge of commonly-used ESG reporting standards. Coordinates with internal stakeholders to support enterprise-wide ESG initiatives, including the setting of ESG targets and monitoring of progress toward achieving them. Participates in the cross-functional ESG Working Group. Helps develop materials for use at meetings of the Dominion Energy Board of Directors and the Board’s Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Committee. Serves as an environmental subject matter expert in a variety of settings, both internal (meetings with senior management, presentations to employees) and external (ESG engagement calls with institutional investors and ESG rating agencies). Works closely with the Dominion Energy Environmental and Sustainability (DEES) team. Helps manage the company’s engagement with external stakeholders on ESG/sustainability matters.

Partners with industry groups on ESG metrics, benchmarking and other initiatives. Stays up-to-date on industry trends, policy development and best practices related to environmental sustainability. Participates in the Electric Power Research Institute’s (EPRI) Sustainability Working Group. Reviews sustainability information in the company’s routine SEC disclosures (10-Ks, 10-Qs).

Benchmarks peer utilities’ and other companies’ ESG/sustainability programs and proposes organizational and program enhancements as necessary. Coordinates internal review of surveys and reports conducted by various ESG and credit rating agencies and keeps senior management apprised of the ratings/rankings assigned to the company by these firms.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Extensive (8+ years) related work experience in the environmental or sustainability field;

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communications skills;

Ability to motivate, lead, and develop rapport with internal and external parties;

Strong overall knowledge of the utility industry;

Project management experience, particularly on complex, multidisciplinary projects;

Expertise in a variety of environmental disciplines (including air, water, and waste) and familiarity with the various regulatory agencies in these areas;

Experience with environmental compliance processes and basic understanding of environmental permitting processes;

An understanding of the relationship between ESG concerns and material business risks and opportunities;

Knowledge of global sustainability reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, UN SDGs, etc) or ability to develop same;

A basic grasp on public policy and how it informs company’s approach to generating and delivering energy;

Ability to demonstrate a robust approach to problem solving to deliver effective, holistic and workable solutions; and extensive knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Master
 

Required Degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree): Bachelor

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
