Job Summary

This role manages an advanced-degree engineering team to provide system analysis of the electric transmission network grid through modeling, simulations, and other engineering techniques. Provides expert technical consultation on and assessment of engineering problems as well as emerging challenges to Dominion and the industry. Develops innovative and cost effective engineering solutions to operational problems. Addresses Dominion's specialized engineering needs as an internal engineering clearinghouse and/or validates third-party consulting performance. Serves to coordinate solutions to complex engineering problems and issues that may span multiple disciplines within Electric Transmission. Facilitates collaborations and partnerships with universities, companies, engineering associations and government agencies. Conducts research, development and demonstration of leading edge tools, technologies and applications to maintain Dominion's leadership position in the industry. Provides coaching, feedback, mentoring and career development to advanced-degree engineering team.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 7+ years of significant directly related experience
  • Must have at least one of the following:
    • Extensive knowledge of Electric Transmission System Operation Center procedures and methods, OR
    • 2+ years of prior leadership experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and general knowledge of managerial and supervisory concepts
  • Thorough knowledge of transmission and substation equipment, design concepts and industry standards
  • Full knowledge of electrical theories and principles
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, effective public speaking and presentation, project management, customer service, time management and organization
  • Abilities: Abstract thinking, technical problem solving, processing information quickly

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Master , Doctorate
