Job Summary
Dominion Energy's Facilities Management group is looking for a Supervisor – Facilities Substation Maintenance to work in the Facilities Critical Infrastructure Group out of our Charles City Road office located in Richmond, VA. This role has the full ability to effectively manage a dedicated Team in the operation & maintenance of buildings and facilities-related equipment located within Substations, Microwave Towers, POP sites, & warehouses throughout our Virginia & North Carolina operating territory. These duties shall include but are not limited to: developing and maintaining effective preventative maintenance plans; performing safety inspections of substations and making recommendations for improvement; and managing related projects at substations. Duties also include providing leadership to employees and contractors, stressing excellent customer service while satisfactorily performing all phases of substation improvements, repairs, and renovations; maintaining effective communications and relationships with all customers and upper management. Coordinates and communicates all activities to Facility Maintenance supervisors and all Supporting Substation Management leadership. Responsible for employee development and training. Supervisors are first responders to Facilities-related requests and emergencies for their assigned locations.
These duties shall include but are not limited to:
Create & maintain a safe work environment for employees, customers, & vendors.
- Follow, enforce, & implement national, state, local, and company specific safety regulations, policies, and practices.
- Actively participate in safety & environmental self-assessments.
- Perform safety observations on employees and contractors.
- Lead weekly safety tailgate meetings with employees.
Efficiently manage the day-to-day operation & Maintenance of buildings and facilities-related equipment located within Substations, Microwave Towers, POP sites & warehouses in accordance with
- Develop, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance plan via work management software.
- Develop, implement, and maintain daily preventative maintenance routes/schedules.
- Management of O&M and Capital improvement projects.
- Ensure all legal, regulatory, compliance, & DOT requirements are followed.
- Provide data or documentation to support internal & external reporting, audits, or assessments.
Effectively lead a team of employees
- Develop operational goals with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Interview, hire, onboard, & train new employees into the organization.
- Perform & document quarterly performance reviews with employees providing meaningful feedback.
- Provide training & career development opportunities for employees
- Manage employee work assignments, schedules, & vacation requests.
- Develop, plan, & manage a complex O&M and Capital budget.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
5+ years of directly related experience in Facilities/Property Management, Project Management, or Leadership.
- Knowledge of safety & environmental standards, regulations, and practices.
- Knowledge of concepts and applications of building construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire, and life safety/emergency systems.
- Knowledge of Facilities Management practices and principals.
- Knowledge of Project Management practices & principals.
- Knowledge of scheduling & routing logistics.
- Ability to lead and manage a team of cross-functional employees across a large geographic territory and provide meaningful performance feedback & development opportunities.
- Ability to maintain expenses within budget and provide cost analyses and explanations for any deviations/variances.
- Ability to manage O&M and Capital improvement projects delivering projects on time, on scope, & on budget.
- Ability to exercise strategic management skills to lead efficiency and growth within the team and to partner effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to monitor processes and streamline where possible to improve the customer experience, quality, and efficiency of the operation.
- Ability to evaluate, implement, and utilize technology to ensure an efficient operation.
- Ability to create, adjust, and manage schedules and frequencies.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills to find innovative solutions to problems.
- Ability to develop and negotiate scope of work, pricing, and contract terms with outside contractors and follow established Supply Chain procedures for Purchase Order requisitions.
- Ability to manage contract performance at multiple facilities across a large geographic territory.
- Ability to interact and communicate complex information to all levels of the organization including vendors and customers.
- Ability to support restoration events or emergencies on weekends, holidays, or afterhours.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, prioritization, and time management, and customer service skills.
- Proficient in the use of technology including personal computers, Microsoft applications, and work management systems such as SAP.
Education Requirements
Education Level: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education & demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.
Required Education: High School Graduate or GED
Preferred Education:
• Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Technology, Construction, or Engineering.
• Completion of a formal HVAC or Electrical apprenticeship program.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Valid Driver's License, required.
Preferred: Certifications in Facilities Management and technical certifications in either: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Building, etc.
