We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

This position will lead a professional technical staff in responsible planning activities associated with the electric distribution system. Electric Distribution Planning responsibilities include:

Forecasting load growth on the distribution system, evaluating options, including non-wires alternatives (“NWA”), to handle the anticipated load, and initiating improvement projects necessary to meet forecasted demand. Analyzing forecasts to determine necessary long range distribution system improvements. Evaluating the reliability impact of substation transformer outages (N-1 analysis) and identifying options to mitigate risk. Project scoping for feeder and substation improvement projects to address thermal, voltage, reliability and resiliency deficiencies. Scoping includes design requirements, material specifications, engineering calculations and studies, and target dates. Supporting storm restoration activities as assigned.

Specific duties of the Supervisor-Electric Distribution Planning will include:

Leading a technical team that performs long range planning for all Company distribution feeders and substations through load forecasting, engineering calculations and studies.  Also, identifying and scoping reliability and resiliency improvements for the distribution system.  Providing project solutions such as building new or expand or refurbishing existing electric distribution infrastructure or NWA project solutions to ensure safe and reliable operation of the system. Providing guidance and mentoring on technical issues, including complex load, reliability and resiliency planning. Developing and implementing strategies to support the department and the Company. Assisting in setting and meeting department goals. Assisting in managing department budgets. Providing feedback and performance reviews for assigned employees. Assigning work activities to ensure timely and accurate completion. Applying highly specialized knowledge in providing training and mentoring to new team members and overseeing employee development. Supporting storm restoration activities as necessary. Perform other duties as requested or assigned. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:

7+ years of Electric Transmission or Electric Distribution utility engineering experience. Significant related experience. In-depth knowledge of engineering theories and principles related to power engineering and the design and operation of electric distribution systems. Demonstarted leadership, team building and coaching skills. Knowledge of business/financial matters. Proven decision making and complex problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks. Strong verbal and written communication skills (including technical writing). Strong conflict resolution skills. Strong planning, organizing, and project management skills. Strong computer skills.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s): Engineering
