Job Summary
The Responsible AI Policy Lead provides strategic, functional, and technical direction to ensure that the development and deployment of AI capabilities across the enterprise adhere to Dominion Energy’s Responsible AI Framework. This role is instrumental in ensuring that Dominion’s use of artificial intelligence is ethical, transparent, secure, and aligned with our corporate values and long-term business strategy. This role is highly engaged and collaborative working across business units, cybersecurity, legal, privacy, and technology teams to embed ethical, transparent, and accountable AI practices into the organization’s digital transformation journey. Role works across business units, technology teams, and governance bodies to embed responsible AI principles into the full lifecycle of AI idea to development and deployment—while proactively managing risk, compliance, and trust across all AI initiatives.
Lead the Enterprise Responsible AI Program - Design, implement, and oversee Dominion’s Responsible AI framework, including policies, standards, and governance models that ensure ethical, compliant, and risk-aware AI use. Plays critical role in ensuring that DE is positioned to respond to ever-changing, unique, and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business.
Policy Leadership - Develop, maintain, and evolve Dominion Energy’s Responsible AI Policy and associated governance artifacts. Ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory frameworks, including the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.
Assess and Monitor AI Ecosystem - Establish governance mechanisms to evaluate existing and emerging AI solutions across the enterprise, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
Governance & Oversight - Collaborate with the Governance and Compliance team to integrate Responsible AI principles into broader data governance practices. Establish and monitor controls to ensure AI systems are fair, explainable, secure, and privacy-preserving.
Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with business units, cybersecurity, legal, privacy, and technology teams to assess AI use cases and ensure compliance with Responsible AI standards. Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor on ethical AI practices across the enterprise.
Risk Management - Identify and assess risks associated with AI models and systems, including bias, transparency, and accountability risks. Support the development of risk mitigation strategies and incident response protocols for AI systems.
Training & Enablement - Lead awareness and training initiatives to promote understanding and adoption of Responsible AI principles. Develop guidance and tools to support teams in implementing ethical AI practices.
Operationalize RAI Practices - Integrate responsible AI tools and methodologies into development workflows, including bias detection, model explainability, performance monitoring, and auditability.
Stay Ahead of Industry Trends - Maintain deep knowledge of AI ethics, regulatory developments, and best practices. Represent Dominion in external forums and partnerships focused on responsible AI and risk governance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:
10+ years of relevant experience
-Proven experience standing up and leading a Responsible AI program within a complex organization.
-Strong understanding of AI development lifecycles, governance, and risk management frameworks.
-Demonstrated ability to engage cross-functional teams and influence at all levels of the organization.
-Practical experience with RAI tools and platforms (e.g., model explainability (XAI, SHAP and LIME) fairness assessment, monitoring).
-Familiarity with regulatory and ethical considerations in AI, including NIST, EU AI Act, and other emerging standards.
-Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
-Experience integrating RAI principles into enterprise AI platforms and cloud-native environments.
-Familiarity with AI assurance frameworks and third-party audit practices.
-Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-relevant insights.
-Experience with change management and organizational transformation related to AI adoption.
-Knowledge of data governance, privacy engineering, and cybersecurity as they relate to AI systems.
-Ability to build and lead cross-functional working groups focused on AI risk and ethics.
