We offer a hybrid work schedule (one week in the office, one week of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

Overview:

The Wireless / Mobility Solution Architect plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise and operational mobility solutions that support the organization’s business objectives and technology strategy. This role serves as the architectural lead for mobile and wireless communications, translating business, field, and operational data requirements into secure, scalable, and resilient network architectures. 

The architect bridges business outcomes, user experience, and underlying wireless and mobility platforms, ensuring solutions support mission‑critical utility operations, enterprise standards, cybersecurity requirements, and long‑term cost and reliability objectives. This role requires deep expertise across public, private, and low‑power wireless technologies used to transport data across diverse environments.

 

This position may be based in Richmond, VA or Cayce, SC.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong working relationships with peer architects, technical experts, and product teams across IT, OT, telecom, and cybersecurity domains.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and maintain enterprise strategy, technical documentation, standards, reference architecture, and best practices for wireless and data mobility implementations.
  • Lead feasibility studies, proofs of concept, and technology evaluations for data mobility solutions, assessing performance, resiliency, security, scalability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Design and document end‑to‑end wireless and mobility architectures that meet business and operational requirements while ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, scalable, and automation‑ready.
  • Evaluate emerging wireless and mobility technologies and recommend adoption, standardization, or retirement to meet current and future organizational needs.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout project lifecycles, including requirements analysis, architecture design, implementation planning, validation, and post‑deployment optimization.
  • Ensure wireless and data mobility solutions comply with enterprise cybersecurity standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, with a strong focus on resiliency and availability.
  • Partner with operational and engineering teams to ensure mobility solutions are designed with a long‑term capacity and technology view, minimizing future rework and operational risk.
  • Serve as the architectural technology lead for data mobility technologies

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

7+ years of relevant experience in directly related field 

  • Expert knowledge in a multi-platform operating environment, computing architectures, development methodologies and tools and implementation of networked computing structures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on innovative solutions
  • Demonstrated capacity to efficiently adapt to emerging technologies and evolving business needs

 

  • Deep expertise in wireless mobility technologies, including but not limited to:
    • Commercial cellular services (LTE/5G) and Private LTE (pLTE)
    • Private mobile networks and networks headend
    • Cellular devices, gateways, and modems
    • Signal boosters, repeaters, and distributed antenna systems (DAS)
    • Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity, including LEO satellite headend network design and integration
    • Low‑power and utility wireless communications, including LoRaWAN, Zigbee, and related LPWAN / mesh technologies
    • Other emerging wireless and mobility technologies supporting utility and enterprise data transport

 

  • Utility and OT‑grade wireless architecture
    • Understanding of emerging technologies in edge computing for mobility solutions
    • Working knowledge of wireless architecture security, resiliency, and reliability
    • Proficiency in wireless network latency, throughput, and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark
    • Hands-on experience with enterprise wireless LAN solutions (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Meraki)

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s): Business, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics
