Job Summary

There are multiple positions available that will be filled at the Senior Cyber Security Analyst or Cyber Security Analyst levels, commensurate with the selected candidates' skills and abilities.  At the time of application, candidates must indicate the levels they want to be considered for.

Dominion Energy’s Cyber Security Group is seeking a dynamic, detailed oriented Senior Cyber Security Analyst or Cyber Security Analyst to perform security event and incident investigations.  Ability to work with endpoint security, IDS, SIEM, network protocol analyzer, open source Intelligence, and incident response platforms. Perform continuous network monitoring and response in a complex and massive environment. Located in historical and scenic downtown Richmond, Virginia, the selected candidate will serve as a Senior Cyber Security Analyst in a Cyber Security environment. Must be able to work on call on a rotational basis, these positions require the selected candidates to provide coverage over a 7 day, 24 hours period.

This position will support an existing and mature environment and use cases. Under general supervision, works from specifications to develop or modify moderately complex use cases and notable.  Individual is expected to work and drive assignments with little guidance. The successful candidate may work with an individual business unit on specific project assignments.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
                               

  • A proven track record in working with common security tools.
  • Perform security event and incident investigations.
  • Ability to work with endpoint security, IDS, SIEM, network protocol analyzer, open source Intelligence, and incident response platforms.
  • Perform continuous network monitoring and responseManage and perform the development, implementation and training of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).Perform regular training and assist in cross training teamExperience working with commercial SIEM products including reporting, rule creation and modification, false positive tuning, and integration of threat feeds.
  • Ability to work with logs from multiple sources.
  • Ability to read and understand packet captures.Familiarity with cybersecurity in enterprise and cloud environments.Ability to evaluate and use threat intelligence to aid in detection and reporting.
  • A history of working in collaborative, team oriented environments with a commitment to results and a proven track record of accomplishments.Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, SharePoint, PowerPoint & Project.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.Knowledge of Security Frameworks and regulations is preferred.Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux and network technologies (firewalls, wireless, switches, and routers) with a focus on security is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Senior Cyber Security Analyst:  5+ years experience is required.  (Master's degree can count towards one year of experience)
Cyber Security Analyst:  3+ years experience is required. (Master's degree can count towards one year of experience)

Demonstrates a strong knowledge (5+ years) of principles, practices and procedures to carry out all aspects of the job, and handling moderately complex work applying knowledge of software systems and server administration.


Cyber Security Analyst
 

Demonstrates a good knowledge (3 + years) of principles, practices and procedures to carry out all aspects of the job, and handling moderately complex work applying knowledge of software systems and server administration.


For both levels, candidate possesses the following skills and related work experience to include:
 

  • Previous experience (3+years for Cyber Security Analyst/5+ years for Senior Cyber Security Analyst) in SIEM or other IT system knowledge
  • Threat Intelligence process
  • Evaluate and process Threat Intelligence
  • Ability to read and understand Use Cases
  • Effectively utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments
  • Identifies and eliminates unnecessary work and non-value added activities
  • Must have the ability to adhere to department standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Must be able to provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotational basis.


Security-related industry certifications preferred (CISSP, GIAC, EC-Council, etc.)

 

 

 

Education Requirements

Education Level:  Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
 

Preferred Disciplines: Computer Science; Engineering; Information Systems; Information Systems Security

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
