We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

Responsible for oversight and development of risk-management metrics and analysis utilized throughout the Enterprise in valuation and analysis of complex energy trading products, business/asset valuations, and risk assessment. Develops the latest financial valuation models of standard and complex, structured energy trading products. Analyzes and dissects gas and power structured deals into the appropriate risk components and determines or develops the appropriate methodology to properly value the components and offsetting hedges. Provides technical and expert level support to develop and monitor corporate strategy relating to risk management. Analyzes market price curves and develops correlations for utilization in the valuation of complex energy commodities and financial derivatives. Develops and implements financial mathematics models to generate volatilities for utilization in asset valuations and mark to market accounting. Responsible for maintaining and updating SAS code, database, and reports used by Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, and Business personnel to make planning and forecast decisions as well as financial reporting. Responsibilities include presenting and explaining valuations and models to internal and external customers including audit and state or government regulators.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

7-8+ years of the latest financial valuation models of standard and complex, structured energy trading products experience.

  • Extensive quantitative background including the ability to understand and correctly apply the latest valuation methodology to complex energy transactions as well as develop and prove more advanced methodologies than currently exist in the industry.
  • Extensive analytical skills that include the ability to break down potential and existing transactions into the correct risk components and ensure that the components are correctly valued for internal analysis and mark to market valuation which can have a significant impact on company earnings.
  • In-depth knowledge of options and the Greeks (delta, gamma, vega, theta, rho) and their effect on physical/financial positions and valuations.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial mathematics, risk management, trading products and hedging strategies, the energy industry, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards and practices.
  • In-depth knowledge and extensive experience with econometric/statistical modeling.
  • Skills: Organizational; interpersonal; verbal and written communication, analytical.
  • Aptitude for continuous learning.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Extensive experience with and proficient with most of the following programming languages:  SAS, C/C++, Java, Visual Basis, and HTML.

Education Requirements

Required Degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree): Bachelor

A Masters or PhD preferred. 

Preferred Disciplines:  Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, and/or Financial Mathematics
