Job Summary
Solving our country’s energy and environmental challenges requires new solutions and investments. Dominion Energy’s Renewable National Gas (RNG) initiative is an exciting piece of this complex puzzle. By partnering directly with dairy farmers, Dominion Energy’s RNG infrastructure captures methane from manure for energy needs and produces valuable water and bedding resources. With effective management, these projects are a win for farmers, Dominion Energy, and the environment.
The Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Programs Specialist supports and contributes to the development, coordination, and improvement of renewable energy and distributed energy resource programs. Operating with moderate independence, this role performs analytical, technical, and program support functions that help advance renewable energy initiatives and ensure long term organizational growth and compliance. It serves as a key resource to senior program staff by assisting with research, program development, and project coordination.
The Specialist conducts in-depth research and analysis related to renewable energy technologies, including renewable natural gas, microgrids, distributed generation, and energy storage systems, and synthesizes findings to support program planning and process improvements. The role evaluates data from multiple sources, identifies trends or issues, and develops preliminary recommendations for senior specialists or management review. Working across teams, the Specialist helps coordinate components of energy management projects and contributes to the implementation of new business models and program enhancements.
This position also provides support in resolving routine to moderately complex system performance questions by conducting root cause data gathering, taking troubleshooting steps, and collaborating with technical experts. While not serving as the primary point of contact for high level power quality issues, the Specialist assists in preparing information used to resolve these matters and improve customer satisfaction. This role may contribute to developing portions of operating plans, tracking budget related items, and supporting engagement on legislative and strategic matters within the renewable energy space.
