Job Summary

There is two positions available within Power Generation’s Planning team which will be filled at the level commensurate with the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.

Dominion Energy Virginia’s (DEV) Generation Planning team is responsible for driving executive-level strategic decision-making pertaining to the system plan of record, which includes the generation build required to meet system reliability needs. The Generation Planning team has three primary areas of responsibility. First, the team will be expected to conduct transmission analytics, leveraging publicly available data to inform optimal siting of new generation assets in the near-, mid-, long-term and expected future import limits (e.g., transmission system modeling leveraging publicly available information provided by PJM). Second, maintain an integrated planning document to build a view of Load Serving Entity (LSE) energy supply and demand; inclusive of the 10+ year build plan. These activities will ensure strategic and operational integration across DEV with a focus on reliability. Third, maintain an ongoing assurance review process to determine organizational readiness to execute against the build plan as defined in the integrated planning document. The assurance review process will result in an analysis of the ability of DEV to consistently deliver near-, mid-, and long-term generation investment plans, near- and mid-term capacity positions on time, on budget, and in a manner informed by infrastructure dependencies (e.g., transmission network upgrades and costs). The team will identify gaps as part of assurance reviews, develop mitigation strategies, and provide executive-level visibility on progress against gaps identified to ensure adequate and reliable delivery.

The Planning Engineer is responsible for evaluating the transmission system impacts of new construction across the DOM Zone, ensuring grid reliability and optimal site selection for future projects. This position requires deep familiarity with PJM and transmission modeling tools such as PLEXOS and PowerFlow models to conduct load flow analyses, risk assessments, and capacity evaluations.

The engineer will collaborate with Business Development, and other teams to identify high-potential sites, share insights, and support grid modernization and capacity planning efforts. The role also involves tracking PJM regulatory changes, market developments, and regional transmission trends while conducting complex analyses to ensure compliance, optimize project locations, and support strategic decision-making.

This position will be located at Dominion Energy's Headquarters Building in Richmond, VA and reports to the Director / Sr. Director of the Generation Planning team.
