We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy Virginia has a vacancy in Richmond, VA. The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The selected candidate will be responsible for collecting, reviewing and analyzing payroll information to effectively administer involuntary deductions from pay. Involuntary deductions include court ordered wage garnishments, including child support, spousal support, student loans, wage assignments, bankruptcy orders, state, local (county) and federal tax levies as well as creditor debt. Ensures the deduction processes through payroll accurately, ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local labor laws and tax regulations. In addition, maintains detailed records for compliance and to ensure the necessary documents are retained. Managing data, resolving discrepancies, collaborating with Payroll, Human Resources, Benefits, IT and Finance to ensure the timely collection and payment of these deductions. Responding to wage and hour inquiries and staying updated on regulatory requirements and changes. Collecting and maintaining electronic files for all withholding orders. Entering wage garnishment orders in payroll system in an accurate and timely manner. Review and process IRS Lock-in letters.  Working with payroll system contact to setup garnishment vendors appropriately.  Addressing employee inquires related to payroll deductions with empathy. Ensuring payroll deduction reports are run timely and are accurate and in compliance with laws for each payroll. Researching and responding to inquiries from employees, courts, state and federal agencies and others regarding garnishment orders or other payroll related information. Assisting as needed to ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of garnishment accounts and establishing Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). Supports other payroll related activities, as needed. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):

  • 6+ years Payroll related experience 
  • Previous experience processing garnishments, preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of governmental compliance regulations
  • Knowledge of payroll software and MS Office applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Process oriented 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with team members

Education Requirements

Education Level:

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

High School Diploma or GED
