Job Summary
This position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications.
Dominion Energy is seeking a Real Estate Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a background in real estate law, particularly in residential/commercial transactions and land acquisitions. This role involves supporting attorneys by managing and coordinating all aspects of real estate transactions, including contract review, title examination, and closing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Residential/Commercial Real Estate Transactions: Assist in all stages of real estate transactions, including drafting and reviewing contracts, preparing closing documents, and facilitating the closing process.
- Land Acquisitions: Support attorneys in land acquisition processes by conducting due diligence, preparing and reviewing purchase agreements, and coordinating with surveyors, appraisers, and other stakeholders.
- Title and Survey Review: Conduct thorough title and survey reviews, identify and resolve title issues, and ensure all documents comply with legal standards.
- Document Preparation and Management: Draft, revise, and organize a wide range of legal documents, including deeds, leases, purchase agreements, and easements.
- Closing Coordination: Work closely with attorneys, clients, and lenders to coordinate and facilitate real estate closings, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and executed.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research related to property law, zoning regulations, and other relevant real estate matters.
- Compliance: Ensure all transactions comply with state and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Client Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients during transactions, providing updates and answering questions.
- File and Record Maintenance: Maintain organized and up-to-date physical and electronic files for all transactions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Paralegal I: 0-2 years of paralegal experience as a Real Estate Paralegal, with focus on residential real estate transactions and land acquisitions.
Paralegal II: 2+ years of paralegal experience as a Real Estate Paralegal, with focus on residential real estate transactions and land acquisitions.
(Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):
Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:
- Strong understanding of real estate law, including title, survey, and closing procedures. Familiarity with zoning laws and land use regulations.
- Specific skills:
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in legal research and document preparation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, legal research databases, and real estate transaction software.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma/GED is required.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Paralegal certificate preferred.
