We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

Operations Specialist I/II/III: This role provides support in designated areas to include calculations, analysis, and design with respect to the distribution system. Designs and performs studies and analysis using computer-based models, historical data, or other techniques to oversee and develop the Preventative Maintenance programs for our Electric Distribution System. Some of these programs include proactive inspection programs associated with our distribution equipment such as padmount transformers, poles, vaults, and switches. The goal is to analyze, prevent, and develop solutions to problems that occur on our distribution system such as voltage fluctuations, overloaded overhead transformers, environmental incidents resulting from leaking equipment and/or bird and wildlife electrical incidents, and other customer service reliability issues and concerns. Assess design of new facilities or modifications to existing facilities. Prepare correspondence, reports, and inquiries regarding customer requests. Some of the programs administered in this team require oversight of contractors and ensuring contract compliance. Respond to unplanned outage events. Lead emergency restoration of service activities, including night packaging and Resource Management. Respond to customer inquiries related to the preventative maintenance programs and equipment. Support changes to processes and programs with EWAM’s upcoming roll-out.

 

 

Operations Specialist III: Analyzes and provides solutions to most complex technical problems. Develops legal responses to regulatory interrogatories and other external requests. Designs and performs financial studies and analysis using computer-based models or other techniques. Assesses design of new or modified facilities. Analyzes operational and loading reports, operation guidelines and identifies changes. Prepares correspondence, reports, and inquiries regarding customer requests. May train, support and provide work direction to other employees.  Provide guidance and support through transfer of knowledge and other relevant distribution expertise to other employees. Recommend and develop new processes when needed. Work with standards to develop/discuss necessary process and/or hardware changes when needed.

 

**The position will be filled commensurate with the successful candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and education at either Operations Specialist II, or III level, in accordance with business needs and priorities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

 

Skills: oral and written communication, analytical.

 

Abilities: problem resolution, address multiple tasks simultaneously, handle constantly changing and emerging priorities.

 

Operations Specialist II = 2-3+ years of relevant experience in a directly related field. Full knowledge of distribution and transmission systems. Knowledge of personal and mainframe computer systems, practical knowledge of electricity and protective device coordination.

 

Operations Specialist III = 5 - 6+ years of related experience. Expert knowledge of distribution and transmission systems. Working knowledge of personal and mainframe computer systems, practical electricity, and protective device coordination.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Associate

Preferred discipline(s): Business Administration, Project Management, Operations Management

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
