Job Summary
Dominion Energy (DE) is seeking a summer 2023 intern from the Native American community. This position will support the Tribal Relations, Community Affairs and the External Affairs groups within Dominion Energy. Duties may include;
- Assist with planning, coordinating and administering Tribal Relations, Community Affairs and External Affairs programs.
- Support Community and Tribal event planning and rollout
- Support Native student recruiting efforts for Dominion Energy’s Careers in Energy Student Diversity Conference
- May draft project and communications plans for leadership review.
- May research the history and culture of Tribal communities within Dominion Energy’s operating area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Selected candidates may be eligible for a housing stipend if they live 50 miles or more from the work location.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Must be a student at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college/university majoring in Liberal Arts, Cultural Studies, History, Communications, Public Relations, English, Business, Marketing or a related field.
Must have an anticipated graduation date of spring 2025 or later.
Prefer a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Prefer existing relationships within American Indian communities.
Knowledge of cultural and social issues within Native American communities is a plus
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Ability to collect and analyze data using spreadsheet software, such as Excel
Ability to create presentations using software, such as PowerPoint
Active involvement in Tribal and Native serving organizations
Leadership experience in Tribal, student or volunteer groups or organizations
Preference will be given to applicants who are enrolled members of a Native American Tribe
