Job Summary
- This position coordinates the system level development and implementation of electric distribution design standards and policies for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electric facilities.
- Leads the Design Department's storm preparation efforts and represents the patrol function at the System Storm Center during restoration events.
- Develops strategy for all IT systems leveraged by Design including Damage Collection, ArcFM, Work Management and GIS systems.
- Oversees operations and procedures to ensure compliance with company, state and federal rules, regulations and policies; responsible for company assets and budgets, and directs assigned human resources.
- Encourages and develops effective union/management relations.
- Represents company interests in dealing with customers, landowners, governmental agencies and the community. Manages the right-of-way group that is responsible for preparing and securing easements, special agreements, quitclaims, government permits and plats.
- Manages the customer contracts, Joint Use & policy functions in DVP including the development and implementation of policies, procedures, agreements and filed terms and conditions.
- Manages the Centralized Design Group (CDG) and Strategic Design and Analytics (SDA) functions.
- Directs difficult or complex customer negotiations and/or participates in negotiations regarding agreements, contracts and terms and conditions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:
- 8-10+ years of related experience in addition to a Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience in lieu of preferred degree)
- Knowledge of electric distribution field facilities, operations, and maintenance;
- Knowledge of company operations, strategies, and business plans;
- Knowledge and application of customer contracts, agreements and terms and conditions;
- Awareness of applicable codes and regulations;
- Ability to effectively lead and motivate staff in a team environment;
- Proven ability to effectively plan and manage multiple activities, resources and time;
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Strong business acumen;
- Skills: leadership; resource management; planning and organizing;
- Abilities: teaming; addressing multiple tasks simultaneously; processing information from many sources and formulating workable plans; making effective decisions; project management.
