Job Summary
Dominion Energy is seeking a manager – Data Governance & Responsible AI to lead and inspire the governance and compliance function within our newly established Data Factory organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), this role is pivotal in shaping how we responsibly manage and use data across the enterprise.
We’re looking for a strategic leader who can build strong partnerships, foster a culture of accountability, and champion ethical and compliant data practices. This individual will guide policy development, oversee governance processes, and ensure alignment with business priorities—while empowering teams to make data-driven decisions confidently and responsibly.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Vision
• Lead and grow the Governance and Compliance team, setting a clear vision and priorities.
• Develop and implement an enterprise-wide data governance strategy aligned with Dominion Energy’s goals.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the CTO and senior leadership on governance and risk matters.
Policy & Standards
• Own and maintain enterprise data policies, standards, and guidelines for data and AI use.
• Ensure policies meet regulatory requirements and reflect industry best practices.
Governance Council Leadership
• Establish and lead the Data Governance Council, driving collaboration and accountability across business units.
• Facilitate decision-making and ensure consistent policy enforcement.
Collaboration & Engagement
• Partner with leaders in data operations, product delivery, and business enablement to embed governance into everyday processes.
• Engage with business data owners and stewards to improve data quality and compliance.
Risk & Compliance Oversight
• Identify and mitigate data-related risks across the organization.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory standards, and ethical data practices.
Change Management & Enablement
• Champion a culture of data responsibility through training, communication, and engagement.
• Provide tools and resources to help teams adopt governance practices effectively.
Education Requirements
Education Level:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Preferred Discipline(s):
- Experience in energy or utilities sector.
- Familiarity with governance tools and platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica).
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Preferred: Certification in data governance or compliance (e.g., CDMP, CIPP, CRISC)
