Job Summary

Dominion Energy is seeking two experienced project leaders to support a multi-site coal ash closure program in Virginia. One position will manage construction execution across four coal ash project sites, while the second will manage related technical services, including engineering, permitting, and water treatment. Together, these two roles will oversee scope, schedule, cost, staffing, contractor performance, project reporting, and field execution for complex, multi-year closure projects. These positions require close coordination with internal stakeholders, contractors, engineering firms, regulatory agencies, and project teams to support the successful completion of a multi-year $4B capital program.

The positions will support ash pond closure work in Chesterfield County, Chesapeake, Fluvanna County, and Prince William County. Project scope includes permitting, landfill development, dewatering and excavation of historic ash ponds, contact water treatment, and final civil restoration grading.

  • Lead the execution of large-scale coal ash closure and environmental remediation projects from planning through completion.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budgets, staffing plans, and overall project performance.
  • Provide leadership to direct reports, contractors, consultants, and matrixed project team members.
  • Direct and oversee engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors and service providers.
  • Establish and maintain project controls, performance metrics, risk mitigation plans, and forecasting processes.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level project updates, performance reports, and strategic recommendations.
  • Facilitate collaboration among engineering, environmental, operations, permitting, regulatory, and construction teams.
  • Participate in internal and external project reviews and ensure alignment with company objectives and governance requirements.
  • Support the Director and senior leadership in forecasting project scope, schedule, resource needs, and cost performance.
  • Foster a culture of safety, compliance, accountability, continuous improvement, and project excellence.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Demonstrated leadership experience leading large, multidisciplinary project teams.
  • 8–10+ years of experience managing major engineering, procurement, and construction projects or related capital programs.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, project controls, contract administration, and construction execution.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects through planning, execution, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Experience developing project scope, cost estimates, schedules, and execution strategies.
  • Ability to analyze project metrics and implement corrective actions to improve project outcomes.
  • Experience interpreting and administering complex contract requirements.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and present project data to senior management and executive leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, project scheduling software, databases, and project management systems.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing environmental closure projects, industrial construction, heavy civil construction, utility infrastructure, water treatment, or large environmental compliance programs.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and environmental permitting processes.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and geographically dispersed project teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience may be considered.

Other Working Conditions

Working conditions will include a combination of office and field work. Field work will be located at a major construction site and include all potential hazards associated with a construction environment. Employee could be expected to spend up to 50% of their time in the field monitoring construction activities.

Expected Hiring Base Salary Range:

 

$131800 - $171200

 

The expected hiring base salary range is the range we anticipate hiring within for this position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and work location.
